Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Incredible, dark green, deeply veined foliage is a hallmark of Yin® David Viburnum (Viburnum x 'NCVX3' PP# 33,203). This fantastic heat-tolerant cultivar introduced by the North Carolina State University and rigorously field-tested by Proven Winner®.

In addition to the elegant foliage and useful mounded form…you'll appreciate the pretty white springtime blooms. Local butterfly populations will also be fans of these nectar-rich blooms!

Planting and Application:

This sophisticated selection grows into a gift for yourself, your neighbors and beneficial pollinators in your area. Please consider pairing it with Yang® David Viburnum as a pollinator for bright blue berries to feed the songbirds in fall!

  • Yin and Yang David Viburnums would be an exceptional evergreen choice for a matched set of patio pots. You'll have very little care beyond watering and fertilizing; and enjoy years of high-end visual appeal with proper care.
  • Define your garden design with low hedges of Yin Viburnums throughout your sunny and partially shaded areas. For a solid screen, space them four feet apart; measuring from the center of one to the center of the next.
  • Run a row of them under windows to modernize your home's foundation. Zig-zag a staggered mass planting with Yang to create a polished presentation in all four seasons of the year.
  • Use these formal shrubs as a backdrop for flowers. Roses truly "pop" against their charming foliage in the growing season…but you'll appreciate the broad-leaved evergreen foliage for winter interest, too.
  • A pair of Yin and Yang David Viburnums from NatureHills.com makes a thoughtful housewarming present. They can be used on either side of the front door…and be sure to tell your loved one they can hurry to order more while our inventory is in stock!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Plant Yin David Viburnum in well-drained soil with full sun or partial shade in at least four hours of sunlight a day. For best results, plan to supply a moderate, even schedule of supplemental water.

  • Symbiotic Nature Hills Root Booster gives a life-long support in the planting hole to optimize your investment. Get more expert planting tips from the NatureHills.com Horticulture team.
  • Apply three inches of mulch over the root zone to suppress weeds and keep the roots cool. Please be sure to pull the mulch back away from directly touching the stems for proper air circulation.
  • Prune to shape only after the spring flowers are done. Every few years, you can renewal prune by cutting a few of the oldest, thickest stems out at ground level.
