We know what you're thinking, the words "Mammoth" and "Crocus" seem like antonyms! Well, this brilliant Crocus variety is here to break the rules and prove this stereotype wrong. The Yellow Mammoth Crocus (Crocus 'Yellow Mammoth') blooms prolifically with bright honey-yellow cuppy flowers!
With a mammoth-sized impact, there's no better way to announce the return to life after the winter than with these spectacular Crocuses. Feed a host of early-emerging beneficial insects with these nectar and pollen-rich resources and breathe in their fresh sweet fragrance!
What makes these Crocuses mammoths? They grow impressive inches taller than other varieties. And as a Crocus vernus, their blooms are big, showy, and the first to appear as winter melts into spring.
This reliable variety of Crocus rivals the warmth and beauty of spring sunshine with its golden yellow color and cupped blossom. The Yellow Mammoth Crocus also is considered long-lasting, and its petals continue to grow even as its yellows transform to softer tones.
Planting and Application:
Crocuses are a staple for any garden. They're one of the easiest spring bulbs to care for and they're always a welcome sight. Crocus are fantastic for both early spring color outdoors and even winter forcing indoors! Containers and small-scale gardens are perfect for these larger-than-life perennial bulbs!
Yellow Mammoth Crocuses are the perfect choice for drifts of color through your spring lawn. They also stand out when used against hardscaping and outside your garden barrier. The most natural location for these buttery beauties is along the wood's edge. By the end of spring, these extremely hardy plants go into hiding as they await their return the following year.
Rock Gardens, cut flower borders, and Cottage gardens relish the honey-butter hue while paths and edging along garden beds gain cute, spiky, space-saving greenery and yellow spring color. Use in groupings and en mass because these easy-care perennial bulbs are low-maintenance!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Crocus often don't require thinning for years and they thrive in full sun to partial shade. Provide moderate moisture and some bulb fertilizer at the time of planting in the fall. Trim the foliage back after it yellows in the late summer or fall after frost. When forcing bulbs indoors, or so they will bloom in the spring, these fall-planted bulbs need at least 6-8 weeks of Chill Hours. This chill time stimulates them to bloom, so if you are in a warm winter climate or growing them for winter color, give them a cool location to rest before planting.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Any Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture Needs
- Clean Foliage After It Yellows
- Deer Resistant
