Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

At Nature Hills we handle, package and ship the products you order with the utmost care to ensure healthy delivery. Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on the tables below. Blissfully sweet red-blushed cherries from your own, self-pollinating tree? Reliable Whitegold® Sweet Cherry (Prunus avium 'Whitegold' PP# 18,892) makes it easy to enjoy an abundant mid-season harvest!

Whitegold Cherry trees are also disease-resistant to brown rot, leaf spot and bacterial canker. They are beautiful trees with fragrant, white clouds of spring blooms and showy, golden-blush fruit in June.

Planting and Application:

You'll only need a single Whitegold tree for fruit...although it makes a terrific pollinator for Stella and Emperor Francis. Crack-resistant Whitegold fruit is large, firm and outstanding for fresh eating, baking and freezing.

  • Self-pollinating Whitegold Sweet Cherry is a great choice if your climate has rainy spring weather. The cherries are a favorite at Farmers Markets, so make plans to grow your own for a fresh supply.
  • Please note that it's a challenge for us to keep these desirable Whitegold Sweet Cherry trees in stock! Place your order right away as our inventory sells out quickly each year.
  • Use these attractive fruit trees with their bounty of blooms and bevy of golden-red cherries front and center in any landscape design. They'll become a lovely feature for a sunny spot...you'll be entranced watching your developing harvest each year.
  • Turn a little used area of your lot into an Edible Landscape. Many people across the country have even included fruiting plants as backdrop in their annual Victory Gardens.
  • Prune to a central leader over the first few years with a series of scaffold branches. The goal is to develop a strong framework that has good air circulation and sunlight penetration on every limb.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Sweet Cherry trees need full sun with at least six hours of full sun. Plant them in rich, well-drained soil; then add symbiotic Nature Hills Root Booster formula in the planting hole for life-long support.

  • Apply water during fruit development on a consistent, even schedule. Find out the right way to water plants at the NatureHills.com Garden Blog.
  • Mulch to a depth of three-inches around the trunk, and then pull it back away from directly touching the stems. In early spring, you can use high-quality fertilizer according to the label; or top-dress with compost.
  • In late winter while the tree is dormant, prune it to shape the scaffolding framework. Keep your fruit trees smaller by tip pruning in summer for size control and harvest without ladders.
