Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Looking for a unique gift plant, or a high-style accent for the home or office? Then you need to check out the traditional living art form called Kokedama! Kokedama is a form of Bonsai where a plant has its roots and soil bundled in a ball of moss and wrapped in twine or string, eliminating the need for a pot or container! Now Nature Hills Nursery is proud to be shipping several varieties of ready-to-enjoy Kokedamas!
Big, variegated green and dark green patterned paddles, the Whale Fin Sansevieria (Dracaena masoniana (synonymous with Sanseveria)) are made to be a living work of art all on its own! When made into a Kokedama, the wide architectural blades further stand out as impressive accents for home or office! Clean and minimalistic, they're perfect for including in a modern, clean, or even shabby chic style home décor! Young plants can display a single, broad leaf with others emerging from the Moss Ball as the plant ages!
Easy to care for and maintain, Kokedama has been practiced in Japan for centuries, translating literally as 'Moss Ball', and because of the root 'binding' method - they will never need to be repotted! In the practice of Feng Shui, Sansevieria act as shields, protecting your home or office from negative energy. These are easy-to-care-for tropical houseplants are wonderful low-maintenance air purifying plants that improve your health while increasing oxygen levels in your home or office!
Displaying Your Kokedama!
Whale Fin Sansevieria are incredible on their own, but when they're combined into Kokedama as a living work of art, they become sculptural - truly eye-catching! Best displayed in such a way that their architectural look can be shown off! Display on your entry console or a coffee table for a lovely conversation piece surrounded by other sculptures. Use in an open bookcase or displayed on a home or office desk.
Just be sure to set your Kokedama on a flat stone, a pile of pebbles, on a stand, or in a pretty tray, dish, or bowl to keep moisture away from wood or from warping furniture.
Suspend Whale Fin in a way that won't inhibit their broad paddle-like leaves, such as dangling from a braided cord, or resting them on a plant swing so they can really show their stuff! These easy-care houseplants are thoughtful and unique housewarming gifts, hostess gifts, or celebratory gifts all around - perfect for new and experienced gardeners alike!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
These ideal houseplants, Sanseveria prefer any kind of bright yet indirect sunlight for the best growth and color. Although, they can also tolerate some partial shade and office lighting too. Check out the full details on caring for your Kokedama Here in our Garden Blog!
Growing slowly into rosettes of broad paddles, these tough plants, also called Mothers-in-Law Tongue or Snake Plant, survive the arid desert conditions of Africa. So you just know the home or office environment is no problem at all! Preferring to dry out slightly between waterings, root rot is a death sentence for these plants.
To water your Kokedama, simply submerge the bottom 3/4ths of your moss ball in a dish or the sink and let soak for 5-10 minutes. Remove to a draining area for 20 minutes to let excess water run out of the root system. Then place it back into its display! Repeat as necessary, maintaining a moderate yet consistent moisture level.
Because of many factors, the watering frequency will vary throughout the year. Dry winters with dehumidifiers running may require soaking a couple of times a week! If your Kokedama is as light as air between waterings, you need to check it more often or soak it a bit longer each time.
- Use room temperature filtered, purified, or bottled water - even rainwater
- Bright Indirect Light - Avoid direct sunlight
- Soak for 5-10 minutes & let drain completely
- Avoid AC & heating vent drafts
- Use half-strength fertilizer in the soaking water in spring & fall
Whale Fin Sansevieria Kokedama is just the work of art your home or office has been craving! Order these living sculptures for you or someone special today from NatureHills.com and kick your home décor game into high gear!
