Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Like a fragrant Hummingbird buffet! Why should you plant Weigela? A better question is, why not? Weigela shrubs are beloved for their blooms, and the Variegated Weigela (Weigela florida 'Variegata') has the most colorful and fragrant flowers of them all! On top of the beautiful effect Weigela brings to your garden, the blooms smell like sweet citrus! The pollinators and hummingbirds can't stay away!

Light pink with a deep pink throat, these flowers look two-tone when in bloom! That's not all, though because the Variegated Weigela has leaves that are as decorative as the flowers! Each leaf has a striking light-cream border. So even when the blooms are gone, you'll have plenty to enjoy until they erupt in a blanket of pink again.

The plants are somewhat spreading and are generally wider than they are tall. They have a beautiful arching shape that looks great anywhere throughout USDA growing zones 5 to 8! Forming a rounded 4-6 foot tall and wide form, these graceful flowering deciduous ornamentals are just the crown jewel your landscape needs!

Planting and Application:

Gorgeous planted alone as a dramatic specimen that lights up the Cottage border or brightens gardens as a backdrop! Try to maximize their impact by massing them together in drifts, or as a hedge! They'll really 'pop' against darker evergreens or make your foundation planting into a divine feature!

Why not turn a secluded spot in the sideyard into a creative "getaway" to relax in? Invest in some outdoor seating! Then, pop a few of these special bushes at the back and sides to shield your guests with a blissful sense of privacy. Take back your front yard with a small nook for entertaining. Receive guests and neighbors in gracious style.

  • Beautifully Soft, Pale-Pink Flowers & Darker Throats
  • Colorful Blooms Last for Months & Smell So Good!
  • Funnel-Shaped Blossoms Attract Butterflies & Hummingbirds
  • Reblooming - Late Spring & Fall!
  • Fine-Textured Green & White Variegated Foliage
  • Slightly Arched Branches Look Nice (Even in Winter!)
  • High-End Accents & Specimens Add Curb Appeal!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Variegated Weigela is super low-maintenance, too! Give Weigela shrubs at least six hours of direct sunlight a day for peak performance, although they'll tolerate some light shade. Plant it in well-drained soil. Top dress with a thick layer of arborist mulch, but please pull the mulch away from touching the stems directly. Give your plants good air circulation, so plant at least six feet away from structures.

Prune to shape after the first round of blooms. Plan a regular schedule of renewal pruning every few years. Keep your shrubs healthy and young with renewal pruning. Simply prune one or two of the thickest, oldest branches out all the way to the ground after the first wave of blooms are done. You never need to deadhead the spent blooms, either! This self-sufficient beauty just keeps on giving without any extra care needed.

  • Easy to Grow in Full Sun & Partial Shade!
  • Well-Drained Enriched Soil
  • Moderate Moisture Needs - Somewhat Drought Tolerant
  • Cold-Hardy, Easy Care, Low-Maintenance & Deer Resistant
  • Deer Don't Prefer the Taste

Light and airy color and dreamily easy care! Your shrubs will arrive ready to plant and enjoy. Nature Hills only ship plants that are healthy, hardy, and with vigorous root systems. Order your Variegated Weigela from us today!
