Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Voluptuous and stunningly sweet, growing Raspberries at home is so simple you'll wonder why you haven't done it before with the Vintage Raspberry Bush (Rubus idaeus 'Vintage')!

Strolling through the produce aisle at the grocery store, you might stop to pick up a package of the classic Red Raspberries we all know and love. Sure, store-bought is alright, but homegrown is much better, we promise!

Vintage starts the season out with lovely petite white flowers on an attractively uniform, upright bush. You'll be charmed by the character it brings to your garden and then absolutely blown away once it yields its crop of delicious red berries. While waiting, local pollinators will stop by to visit the blossoms, native bees and beneficial insects love snacking on the nectar during the summer!

The real treat of this plant comes later in the season and sometimes into fall when the delectable berries are ready to be harvested. Try picking them straight off the bush for a light and fresh snack, they are fantastic when warm from the late summer sun. You can also try Raspberry applesauce, tossed into oatmeal, or blended for a smoothie.

Hardy throughout chilly to warm USDA growing zones 4 to 7, the Vintage Raspberry is so easy to grow! For the regular Raspberry growers, Vintage tends to ripen a few weeks earlier than other varieties such as Heritage. They are often highly sought after due to their extreme sweetness, higher yield rate, and overall larger fruit!

Planting and Application:

There are plenty of ways to incorporate Vintage into a garden and beyond! It's a natural fit for a Produce Garden near the kitchen or outside your backdoor, where a few berries for a smoothie are just a few feet away! You’ll satisfy your family's quest to eat healthier and provide food security for their families!

A Raspberry bush also does great in perennial gardens, double-duty Cottage Gardens, or near patios, either as a pop of color or a backdrop hedge! Its classic lush green, heavily textured foliage makes it a pleasing plant even when not in bloom or dripping in enormous red jewels!

Creative small-space gardeners are even growing these plants in oversized containers. No one needs to feel left out of the Edible Landscape trend.

While more than one type of Raspberry bush might be desired to extend the growing season, it isn't necessary as Vintage is self-pollinating. They will do just fine and produce an abundance of fruit all by themselves, making it the perfect Raspberry for the gardener just getting into produce growing!

However, you can pair yours with an earlier ripening Raspberry and a Summer-bearing variety to increase pollination and enjoy sweet berries all summer long! Create a property-defining hedge along the sunny side of your yard and mix and match different Berry bushes. Not only will you feed plenty of birds and bees, but those thorns are also a great property definition hedge that discourages trespassers.

  • Largest & Sweetest Conical Red Raspberry
  • Self-Pollinating Cheerful White Blossoms in Spring
  • Late Season Harvest
  • Everbearing Raspberry Variety
  • Great Kitchen Garden Plant, Backdrop, Hedge & Edible Landscaping

#ProPlantTips for Care:

This deciduous bush is easy to please, simply plant it somewhere in full sun (at least 6 hours of direct sun) and well-drained soil. They also need good air circulation (for dry leaves and to easily harvest all around your shrub). Vintage is a fast grower, so waiting for its first harvest won't take long at all! Apply a slow-release fertilizer in early spring according to directions for application rate.

Berry bushes appreciate even moisture, especially as they bloom and the fruit develops. Give regular water to support a healthy crop. A good top-dressing of compost each year and 3-4 inches of mulch are incredible at retaining moisture and enriching the soil!

Vintage is an Everbearing Raspberry. Everbearing cane shrubs have both Floricane and Primocanes on the same plant, allowing you to enjoy your first crop of berries in the summer on last year's Floricanes, and then a second crop later that fall on the Primocane branch tips.

  1. 'Tipping' or tip-pruning is highly recommended. Prune back the dead tips of the Primocanes after the harvest in the fall. Prune the tips back a couple of nodes below the dead portion of each Primocane.
  2. Prune out old Floricanes after harvest in the fall, cutting them down to the ground. Leaving new shoots (next year's Primocanes) in place.
  3. Another way to prune your Vintage Raspberry is to cut all of the stems to the ground in early spring. You'll have one large harvest each year. Watch as all fresh new shoots develop and grow from the ground up. These new Primocanes will flower and produce berries on their tips from summer into fall each year.

New and experienced growers alike love growing Vintage Raspberry. The sheer amount of large berries and the spectacularly sweet taste make it a very attractive specimen! Don't settle for store-bought berries, order a Vintage Raspberry bush from NatureHills.com today!
