Sophisticated landscape design relies on a backbone of attractive, high-performance plants that offer ornamental features in many seasons. These are the trustworthy, solid choices that easily create a marvelous outdoor space for many, many years. One such shrub is the well-appointed Emerald Triumph Viburnum (Viburnum x 'Emerald Triumph'). Compact growing and well-branched, this deciduous shrub offers creamy-white, flat-topped flowers in spring, showy fruit, attractive foliage and great fall color! It's the whole package!

Their upright, rounded form reads as a naturally formal accent. Leathery, dark-green foliage remains handsome all season long and features a cool-toned, blue-green overcast. Be enchanted by their sweet clusters of creamy-white blooms in springtime. These textured, slightly rounded blooms are nectar-rich and support many local butterflies and pollinators.

Watch as bright red berries develop from the blooms in late summer. As the nights start cooling down, they'll mature to black in fall in a lovely show. The foliage, too, deepens for an exquisite mix of fiery fall colors. Each shrub becomes a unique work of living art, with leaves in shades from golden yellow to fire-engine red! Even after the leaves drop, you'll be treated with good-looking architecture and dangling black berry clusters. After a few freezes, the songbirds will be happy to clean them for a vital food resource.

These multi-stemmed plants were selected for their showy features, superior shape and excellent disease resistance. This cold-hardy, well-shaped shrub is an improved modern cross between Manchurian Viburnum (burejaeticum) and Alleghany Viburnum (rhytidophylloides), so planting other Emerald Triumph and these other Viburnum varieties will help increase pollination and therefore result in more of those colorful fruits!

Planting and Application:

They make exceptionally easy-care hedges, but can also be used as a single specimen. Emerald Triumph easily fits in courtyards, but is extremely versatile on large acreage properties, too. You'll be proud of this choice. Our expert growers are so pleased to help you support these intricate, yet critical, ecosystems in your local area. Feed pollinators, host critical butterfly larvae and feed songbirds!

Rest and enjoy the outstanding foliage all season. Count on these pretty workhorses to provide screening and even shade for your family and friends. These space-saving smaller shrubs can be trained smaller yet with some pruning. You could even keep them in stylish extra-large containers for many years! Adorn porches and patios and decorate around seating areas and terraces alike! Choose a larger planter or container to keep the roots insulated in colder growing zones.

These colorful, tidy shrubs look terrific all year long. Boost your privacy with a long row used as a hedge. You'll never need to shear them, but you'll gain a pert, formal look all the same for very little effort.

Even small space gardens can make the most of a single Emerald Triumph by using both sides of the shrub to define distinct garden rooms. Place an outdoor entertainment area on one side, and create a private reading nook on the other. Jazz up the look of any existing planting, as well. Repeat across the back of a perennial border, or formalize a Butterfly Garden, Cut flower border, Moon Gardens or add elegance as a backdrop to Rose gardens!

Add color to shelterbelts, or mature evergreen trees. We recommend you create a mulched bed on the sunny side of your existing trees. Create a natural-looking garden feature by planting in a loose grouping of three, five, or seven shrubs in a drift, varying the spacing between plants. These tough shrubs can even help you reduce your snow removal chores in winter. Add them to a hedge placed perpendicular to prevailing winds as effective snow fencing near your driveway.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Emerald Triumph Viburnum is an excellent choice for landscapes in shaded and partial sun areas. Give it at least four hours of direct sunlight a day. An extremely durable shrub, it tolerates clay soils better than most Viburnum. It prefers moist loams but tolerates a wide range of well-drained soils. Provide a consistent schedule of moderate moisture, and we recommend 3-4 inches of mulch over the root system, but pull it back away from directly touching the stems.

Always plan for the full height and spread of these lush ornamental shrubs. That way, you'll enjoy the full display throughout every season. Prune lightly only to shape right after flowering is finished. This shrub blooms on last year's wood, so don't delay. Waiting too long will cut off the buds of next year's blooms. Renewal prune when dormant by removing the oldest fattest branches to the ground.

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Adaptable to Most Well-Drained Soil Types
  • Provide Mulched Beds & Regular Moisture
  • Prune After Flowering To Deadhead & Shape
  • Deer Don't Prefer The Taste & Juglone Resistant
  • Exceptionally Cold Hardy & Adaptable
  • Easy-Care & Low Maintenance

The desirable Emerald Triumph is a true winner among Viburnum because it's so easy to grow. No wonder they are a favorite of our professional garden designers. Please hurry to secure your order today with Nature Hills Nursery! We are so pleased to offer this top-rated, popular choice for you!
