To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Seasonally, Nature Hills offers hand selected, high quality bare root trees, shrubs and perennials. Bare root plants are sold by height from the top of the root system to the top of the plant. Plants may be taller than the height minimums.

Variegated Buckthorn (Rhamnus alaternus 'Variegatus') is one of the most versatile landscape shrubs for warm climates that we have seen, especially for hedges. Unique, bi-color foliage will delight property owners with a very modern sensibility.
If you need a continuous, high performing hedge that crosses through areas of sun or semi-shade, this is your plant. Unlike many other foundation shrubs, it will be equally handsome in both environments.
Variegated Buckthorn isn't just for hedges either. It can be left to grow into its natural rounded shape or trained and trimmed into nearly any shape that you can imagine. We've seen it in many forms - pillars, lollipops, columns - you name it!
Up close the foliage is a pretty blue-green in the center surrounded by an ivory-yellow edge (also known as the leaf margin), but from a distance it takes on an overall silvery sheen. Spring gives you soft orange/white flowers and summer gives small red berries for added color.
Left to its own devices it will grow very tall and wide, but it will easily stay at whatever height you want with a little trimming.
