Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Pecan trees are rich native of the American south. The USDA Organic Stuart Pecan (Carya illinoinensis 'Stuart') variety was started in Mississippi by J.R. Lassabe, but thank Colonel Stuart for making it popular. It is now the most grown pecan for a variety of reasons.

The nuts of the 'Stuart' Pecan are green with some black starbursts. The large nut is a lighter gray-brown with darker brown veins. Its meat is a beautiful golden brown, with a rich, buttery flavor.

From the Southern standard pecan pie to gooey pecan rolls, your desserts, salads and charcuteries will never be the same! The meat is high in unsaturated fatty acid and contains over 19 vitamins and minerals, as well as having antioxidant properties that will reduce your LDL cholesterol.

Planting and Application:

Your Stuart Pecan grows up to 100’ tall, giving you and your descendants decades of shade and delicious, health-giving Pecans. Hardwood sturdy branches, the high-reaching crown will be filled with dense pinnate foliage.

These are fantastic shade trees, but they get large, so make sure you have room for them before planting. With a moderate growth rate, you’ll not be waiting long to be basking beneath the dappled cool shade, so set up those Adirondack chairs now!

  • Paper-Shell Variety - Ripens Earlier Than Most Varieties
  • A Beautiful Shade Tree & Bountiful Crops Of Pecans
  • Cakes, Fudge, Coat Chicken & Seafood, & Toss in a Salad
  • Wood Used For Cooking, Grilling & Woodworking Projects
  • Requires Pollination from Another Pecan Variety Type 1

#ProPlantTips for Care:

You will need two Pecan trees, your 'Stuart' Pecan and a Type 1 pollinator. In the spring, you will find bees enjoying your tree’s unusual green flowers, pollinating as they go. It can be grown further north than most varieties of paper shell pecans, and when it starts to produce, you will have a nice crop in October through early November.

  • Requires Less Work & Pruning Than Other Varieties
  • First Harvest at about 8 Years of Age
  • Can be Grown Further North Than Most Varieties - Growing Zones 5-9
  • Ripens October - Early November
  • Full sun & touch of shade & Most well-drained soil & Moderate Fertility

Why wait? Order your 'Stuart' Pecan today at NatureHills.com. The wildlife in your area will thank you. Your kids and grandkids will thank you. And you will thank yourself as you reap the tasty health benefits!
