Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

If your shade tree checklist looks something like this 1. attractive shape 2. compact 3. easy care. Then you can be sure to put this beloved tree on your short list. With its annual crop of clustered, edible nuts, consider this beautiful, pyramidal tree for applications from street plantings to permaculture.
The Turkish Hazel Tree (Corylus colurna) is a mid-size tree with beautifully strong features. The valiant canopy is narrow, formal, and stunningly pyramidal, and rises from a straight, stout trunk with corky bark.
Large, broadly oval leaves are quite a dark green. Their doubly serrate edges are frankly...suave. Forgive us, but this tree is actually kind of a stud.
Originally found in Central Europe, Turkish Hazel is widely adaptable in the United States. City planners are loving this variety. It is pest-free and once established, tolerates drought and urban conditions.
Edible seeds are found in brown, beaked clusters, and you'll have to crack a thick shell to access the meat. Some choose to leave them for squirrels and other wildlife.
They look great standing as a single specimen. They can certainly hold their own in a mixed-food forest for wildlife. Make your property produce food for your family, and furry friends, as well.
Self-pollinating, with both female flowers and male catkins on the same tree, Turkish Hazel relies on the wind to carry pollen. The cumulative effect of the early spring display is quite ornamental.
These trees are related to the beautiful Birches, after all, and the Turkish Hazel Tree is the tallest of the Hazelnuts!
It looks good in all seasons. Welcome spring with the long catkins, gain a welcome dense shade for summer, and a nice mix of yellow tones for fall color.
Even winter will give you a chance to study the cool, corky bark. Steal some of the hazelnuts to roast on an open fire.
Order the award-winning Turkish Hazel from our tree experts today. Baby them until they are well-established, then relish their robust, well-built charm and carefree nature.
How to Use Turkish Hazel in the Landscape
These trees make wonderful accents. Anchor your foundation planting with one planted 25 feet from the corner of your home.
Or, take a page out of a city planner's guidebook. Add several across the front of your property as a terrific street planting.
The branches can be allowed to start growing low on the trunk. Why not add them outside your pool deck fencing in a low-maintenance mulched bed?
Nobody will see through the densely held branches and thick leaves. Use them at your fence line or as a grouping in an island bed in your lawn.
Privacy, shade, and durability. You'll fall in love with this tree, like so many before you.
Add among Oaks and Chickasaw Plums for a naturalized property. Nature Hills is so happy to provide such amazing options for a well-managed wildlife retreat, homestead, or permaculture.
#ProPlantTips for Care
Turkish Hazel performs best in full sun, with at least six hours of direct sunlight a day. The more sun, the better!
Plant it in well-drained soil. Provide a medium amount of water on a regular basis to establish your tree.
It may take two years for the root system to fully get established. Baby it during this time, and add Nature Hills Root Booster to your order. That time-tested formula will tremendously, with benefits extending over the entire life of the tree.
You'll see Turkish Hazel used on dry sites. We do recommend you apply water during long periods of drought. Protect your investment!
If you apply a layer of mulch around the base of the plant, you'll cut down on surface evaporation. Please pull mulch back at least six inches from the stems for proper air circulation.
Prune to raise the canopy or correct it only in late winter. Check to see the developing catkins... really get to know these outstanding trees of yours.
Order today to enjoy the formal good looks of Turkish Hazel on your property! Commercial, residential, rural, and municipal, their strapping shape fits in anywhere.
