Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Elegant and exotic, the Black Parrot Tulip (Tulipa 'Black Parrot') is the kind of flower you could spend hours looking at and still want more! Parrot Tulips are as colorful and lively as their namesake and the Black Parrot Tulip is no different! The jagged-edged petals are a stunning mix of dark pink, mauve, and wine-red streaks.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a flower with as exquisite coloring as this one! These impressively large blossoms make for opulent cut flowers. As massive as they are, these plants also love to be planted in a protected area of the garden so they can escape the worst of the elements. You don't want to miss out on this luxurious bloom!

Parrot Tulips are hardy fall-planted bulb with upright bell-shaped blooms, that flower throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 7 and grows to a graceful clump about 24 inches tall and nearly as wide. Fast-growing and loving the full sun, these lovely Tulips radiate each spring!

Planting and Application:

These evocative Parrot Tulips and their dramatic ruffles look like something Morticia Addams would adore! Vampy dark blooms look fantastic in containers in large groupings or as specimen thrillers, highlighted under a cloche after being forced in the winter, or as a single accent in a fancy urn surrounded by moss.

Black Parrot Tulips have lovely foliage that looks great among other bulbs and as edging along garden beds and borders long after the flowers fade. Add interest to Perennial gardens and add drama to Cottage gardens in grace while forming tidy clumps and drifts of elegant color that feed the bees and butterflies. Plant them in groupings to maximize their glorious blooms!

  • Deep Purple, Exotic Color & Unique Ruffled Pleated Shape
  • Largest Tulip Blooms Available!
  • Gorgeous Fragrant Cut Flowers & Pollinator Friendly
  • Perennial Flowering Bulbs
  • Beds & Borders, Edging, Groupings & Indoor Forcing

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Bulbs require full sun and well-drained soil to do their best. Appreciating afternoon shade in warmer hardiness zones where the sun is intense. Any soil type is suitable so long as it is not soggy. Plant in the soil with pointed ends up 3 times as deep as the bulbs are tall. Add bulb fertilizer to each hole for best results. Provide moderate moisture during drought and deadhead after flowers fade. But keep the leaves so they can make food for the bulb and next year's flowers! Not only is it strong, but it also has incredible endurance. Its blooms endure through spring showers and days of sunshine. Fall-planted bulbs need well-drained soil with moderate moisture needs.

  • Full Sun For Strongest Growth
  • Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Deadhead After Flowers Fade & Prune Mounds After Leaves Yellow
  • Deer Seldom Bother Them

All Tulips are beautiful, however, one rises above the others with its exotic elegance. Black Parrot Tulips will add their dramatic glamor to your indoor or outdoor landscapes today when you order quality bulbs from Nature Hills! We will ship your bulbs based on the correct planting time for your area!
