The shockingly silvery gray-green foliage is showy on this spreading shrub that produces small blue flowers the butterflies love!

Why Choose Tree Germander?
Its silvery foliage, delicate flowers, and low-maintenance nature make it an excellent choice for eco-friendly landscapes, drought-tolerant gardens, or Mediterranean-inspired designs.
Key Features of Tree Germander
- Silvery Foliage: The soft, silvery-green leaves create a striking contrast to other plants in your garden.
- Delicate Flowers: Lavender-blue blooms appear from late spring to early fall, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies.
- Compact Growth Habit: Reaches 4–6 feet tall and wide, perfect for hedges, borders, or container plantings.
- Drought Tolerance: Once established, it handles dry conditions with ease, making it ideal for xeriscaping.
- Evergreen Beauty: Provides year-round structure and interest in the garden.
Landscaping Uses For Tree Germander
This adaptable shrub complements a variety of garden designs:
- Hedges and Borders: Use Tree Germander to create a low, formal hedge or define borders.
- Mediterranean Gardens: Pair it with lavender, rosemary, and other Mediterranean plants for a cohesive look.
- Pollinator Gardens: Attract bees and butterflies with its nectar-rich blooms.
- Rock Gardens: Ideal for rocky, well-draining soils where other plants may struggle.
- Containers and Patios: Plant it in large pots to bring silvery foliage and flowers to patios and entryways.
Whether as a background shrub or a statement piece, Tree Germander adds texture, color, and structure to your landscape.
Care and Maintenance Of The Tree Germander
Tree Germander is as easy to care for as it is beautiful, making it a favorite for gardeners in warmer climates.
Sunlight: Thrives in full sun to partial shade, but it produces the best foliage and flowers in full sun.
Watering: Requires minimal watering once established. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings.
Soil: Prefers well-draining soils with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH. Avoid heavy, waterlogged soils. Tree Germander can tolerate poor, rocky soils as long as they don't retain too much moisture.
Pruning: Responds well to pruning and can be shaped into hedges or topiaries. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain its form and encourage dense growth. This plant may be used formally sheared.
Fertilization: Generally doesn't require much feeding. A light application of balanced fertilizer in spring can boost growth.
Hardiness: Hardy in USDA zones 8–10. In colder regions, consider planting Tree Germander in a sheltered spot or containers that can be moved indoors during winter.
