Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Soft, buttery yellow Sunspire Magnolia Tree (Magnolia x 'Sunspire') is a fantastic ornamental flowering tree with spring blooms arriving a bit later on the scene to extend your enjoyment of these marvelous scented blossoms! Much to the delight of your bees, butterflies and vase arrangements! The fragrant blooms show their stuff among the green foliage that fills out this unique columnar form!

Sunspire gets its good looks from its parentage including native Cucumber Magnolia Trees and Liliiflora Magnolias! The yellow blooms arrive in late spring to avoid any late-season frosts from arriving unexpectedly and killing your floral show! The entire tree fills out with gorgeous green leaves for the remainder of the growing season!

The foliage takes on yellow-to-brown fall color and the unique cone-like seed pods show off their red berries for birds to eat. Deciduous Sunspire Magnolia is hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 through 8 and can grow to a neat and tidy 15-20 feet in height, but only a modest 5 to 8-foot width.

Planting and Application:

Sunspire Magnolia Trees' columnar form means they can tuck into smaller lots and courtyards! Its ability to grow in part shade opens your ability to enjoy these ornamental flowering trees in a larger array of conditions too! Use it as an anchor for your foundation plantings and soften the corners of outbuildings. Provide pinpoint shade to seating and garden benches, or a lovely backdrop to other garden beds and border gardens!

The columnar form of this tree makes it a no-brainer as a specimen in your front garden to really boost curb appeal without sacrificing space! However, you may be reclaiming some of the lawn to make a special raised bed area to best display this unique tree! Highlight entertaining areas or use these columnar trees as street trees without worrying about wide-spreading encroaching root systems.

  • Buttery Soft Yellow Blooms
  • Unique Columnar Form!
  • Lush Green Leaves
  • Blooms Late Spring
  • Lovely Cut Flowers & Pollinator Magnets!
  • Specimen, Focal Point, Backdrop, Space-Saving Shade & Street Tree

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Magnolia trees thrive in full sun and when planted in rich, neutral to slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Supply new trees with regular moisture using the finger test method and once established, Magnolia do best in average, consistent moisture environments. To help with moisture, supply a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch over the entire root system. This columnar form tree requires little pruning other than the removal of dead or damaged branches. Prune immediately after the flowers fade - that way you don't inadvertently remove next year's flower show!

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Rich, Moist, Well-Drained Slightly Acidic Soils
  • Clay Soil Tolerant
  • Prune Right After Flowering
  • Seldom Bothered by Deer

The Sunspire  Columnar Magnolia Tree is sure to add sunshine and beauty to your landscape without sacrificing space! Order your own columnar ornamental flowering trees from NatureHills.com today!
