Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements

You'd know these distinctive, finely toothed leaves anywhere, with pointed ends and broadly rounded base. Summer Shimmer's leaves are a bit larger than usual, which makes their impact that much greater.

The light-colored undersides also flash in the sunlight. Go ahead and be dazzled by this opulent natural display.
Honestly, who needs diamonds? Summer Shimmer Aspen makes a wonderful anniversary gift for the down-to-earth spouse.
Hardy enough to be grown in Canada, but adaptable to many soil types, these gorgeous trees are blessedly easy care. This variety rarely produces suckers from the root.
Aspen trees are a haven for wildlife, as well. These larval hosts support populations of Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and Viceroy butterflies, and offer habitat for Ruffed Grouse.
Heck, even the creamy-white bark is pretty. Polished with a pale green overcast, these trees are a fetching site in mid-winter.

How to Use Summer Shimmer® Aspen in the Landscape
Use a single specimen in a smaller lot. You'll add value and so much beauty with a Summer Shimmer shade tree planted on the south or southwest of your property.
They can also be used to bring color and movement to existing plantings. Space them 30 feet from the sunny side of mature windbreaks in a loosely zigzagging line.
Anyone who has ever visited the mountain west or northern boundary waters has fallen in love with these evocative trees. Recreate a natural grove in your own space.
Be creative! On a flat lot, bring in additional soil and sculpt it into a hilly berm.
Plant an odd number of Aspens in a free-form, loose triangle with varied spacing between trees, Double up near the middle of a drifting row for a wonderfully organic look.
Punctuate an open meadow with a few of them. Stake out an outdoor destination spot, with hammock stands, a fire pit and rustic campground. Bring your harmonica for a sing-along, accompanied by the rustling leaves overhead.
#ProPlantTips for Care
These trees love full sun, with at least six hours of direct sunlight a day. They do best in well-drained soil, but can tolerate periodic moist and dry soils, once established.
Provide a three-inch layer of mulch to keep the root systems cool. We recommend that you spread it out under their canopy. Always give at least six inches between mulch and the trunk for proper air circulation.
Pay careful attention to watering while your trees are young. They will perform best with a medium amount of water if you don't get a good rainfall. In extended drought situations, please protect your investment with supplemental water.
Wait to prune until after the tree has leafed out in spring. Correct the canopy, or remove lower branches as you like to shape your tree.
Hurry to place your order today! Summer Shimmer Aspen is a popular, cold-hardy variety that is a boon for nature lovers.
