Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

First Editions® Summer Cascade™ Wisteria - Fairytale Vine!
Let's be honest. There is something magical about Wisterias! The flowers can draw you in with their beauty, the foliage appears tropical and lush, and the vine grows into beautiful patterns! People love to use these flowers in arrangements because of their good looks and sweet fragrance.
This First Editions® Summer Cascade™ Wisteria (Wisteria macrostachya 'Betty Matthews') is unique! Featuring dark lavender-blue flowers that bloom in June. The lavender flowers bloom dark and fade as they open creating a mystic ombre look. They grow in bunches and when you see them all hanging, it looks like a magical forest!
Summer Cascade™ is a gorgeous flowering vine on its own. But Wisteria can also be trained into a single-stem tree or as a unique rambling groundcover! The foliage is a lovely bright green that looks amazing against the purple and blue tones. The tropical leaves and long vining tendrils look gorgeous all growing season even when they aren't in flower!
This First Editions® Wisteria, also known as Kentucky Wisteria, is a fast-growing native vine, but can also be trained into a tree. Summer Cascade™ grows 15-20 feet in length and spreads 6-10 feet wide. Cold-hardy throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 8 and are generally disease and deer-resistant.
Landscape Application:
Quickly climbing anything available, Summer Cascade™ vines are vertical accents and ornamental drapery for your garden! People use this twining vine to cover porches, pergolas, and trellises. Create flowering shade and privacy in sunny landscapes.
Incorporate your Summer Cascade™ Wisteria into vertical garden designs! Their small footprint makes them ideal for space-saving privacy and screening, or for creating green walls. It can climb structures like fences, walls, or vertical planters.
Adding a dynamic, flowing element with its abundant flowers and foliage. Screen a nosy neighbor or hide an eyesore with Wisteria!
The vine's fast growth and cascading blooms will provide shade and beauty, transforming outdoor spaces into serene garden retreats! Create entire outdoor rooms, by growing living walls of trellis-grown or Espalier-trained Wisteria Vines around your patios, hot tubs, or outdoor dining!
Stake your Wisteria onto a sturdy upright frame and remove all the lower branches from a single main trunk. Keep it trimmed and staked until the trunk is woody and can support itself, creating a unique and stylish tree-form Wisteria!
Front yard curb appeal gets a boost with a vining or tree-form Summer Cascade™ by a front door, on a front berm, or accenting either side of a garden gate! You'll feel like you stepped into a fairytale setting!
Using Wisteria as groundcover becomes a gorgeous flowering carpet! Summer Cascade™ can be grown along slopes or hillsides to help with erosion control while providing visual interest. Its dense foliage makes it an attractive option for covering bare ground!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Planting and caring for your Summer Cascade™ Wisteria isn't too stressful! Your yard will be magical in no time if you plant your deciduous vine in full sun and well-drained soil locations. Be sure to train your woody Vines onto a strong and sturdy support because mature Vines can be heavy.
Water your vine regularly throughout their first year in the ground and during summers. Create a mulched buffer zone or planting berm, top-dressed 3-4 inches deep, and spread around the entire root zone.
You'll want to use Nature Hills Root Booster during planting for life-long support of the tiny feeder roots. Make sure to give your flowering vine regular moisture access, while drought tolerant, Wisteria flowers best when given consistent watering.
Pruning Wisteria Vines
Wisteria can grow fast and bloom on new wood. Established plants may grow 10 feet or more in a single year. You can certainly keep it much smaller with bi-yearly pruning.
Get the best flowering display with pruning before growth begins in late winter or very early spring. Remove dead or broken branches at this time. For size control, count four buds up along last year's growth, and trim your vine just above the fourth bud, removing excess side shoots.
Prune again just after the first round of spring blooms have faded. This deadheading will sometimes encourage a second, smaller flush of flowers on some varieties.
Invest in a sharp pair of garden shears to get the best performance from your Wisteria. Pruning is necessary for growing gorgeous Wisterias. ..read more in the #ProPlantTips section.

Wisteria FAQ
How invasive is Wisteria?
Usually, Chinese Wisteria and Japanese Wisteria are vigorous growers, so unmanaged vines can overtake an area, and they have rooting surface runners. But American Wisteria plants are non-invasive and won't jump their garden borders.
How long does it take for a Wisteria to bloom?
Wisteria Vines should bloom 3 to 4 years after being established. A Wisteria can be slow to bloom when exposed to less than full sun settings, exposed to excess lawn fertilizer, and moisture access.
