Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Growing Zones
A new Amsonia from Proven Winners®, the String Theory Amsonia PP#34419 (Amsonia x 'String Theory') is a soft powdery baby blue, densely-packed, rounded blossom that whimsically dances above the upright vase-shaped slender thread-like foliage of this new perennial cultivar!
Appearing in round clusters just above the foliage, the star-shaped florets bob and wave in the breeze throughout the late spring and early summer weeks. Almost resembling Allium, the bees and butterflies will show up strong for the rich nectar and pollen. The slender stems make String Theory great for cut flowers too!
Also known as Willowleaf, Dogbane, Star-Willow, and Blue Star (Bluestar), Amsonia is native to the Southeastern US and this cultivar brings a world of new interest to the many, already fantastic qualities of these perennials! Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 9, meaning they are wonderfully cold-hardy and heat-tolerant!
Landscape Application:
String Theory Amsonia is a lower-growing perennial, topping out at 18-22 inch height when in bloom, yet creates drifts 30-36 inches wide. The politely spreading form readily creates seas of soft blue throughout your sun or partially shaded garden beds and borders! Go for a meadow or woodland look without worrying about deer!
A must-have for Pollinator and Cut Flower gardens, these front to mid-garden specimens and accent plants fill Cottage borders and mixed Perennial gardens in sky-blue color and verdant greenery! Add this whimsical Dr. Seuss plant to Children's Gardens and fun informal plantings! Mix with spiral topiary evergreens, Alliums, Corkscrew Rush, Buttonbush, Hollyhocks, Weeping Trees, and lollypop-trimmed Rose Trees for a quirky display.
String Theory Blue Star even pops well in small and large planters!
- Soft Sky Blue Rounded Flower Clusters & Star-Shaped Florets
- Vase Shaped Upright Bright Green Thread-Like Foliage
- Late Spring to Early Summer Bloom Time
- Pollinator-Friendly!
- Unusual Cut Flowers
- Fanciful Specimens, Drifts, Container Accents & Mixed Sun Gardens
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Amsonia is very low maintenance and easy to grow! Provide a well-drained area in full sun or partial sun areas and water them regularly until established. Although Blue Star is adaptable to a little light shade, too much shade will cause these perennials to flop, so please choose its location carefully. It will show tolerance to drought but protect your investment in long periods without rain by providing water and a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch. The only pruning necessary is to cut the seed heads off in the fall and trim back the foliage in the early spring.
- Full Sun & Part Sun
