Plant in full sun for the brightest color. Although Strawberry Daiquiri will grow in partial shade, you'll get the brightest stems for winter with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day. Like most Dogwoods, it will love well-drained soil. However, it is widely adaptable to most soils, including those that might be wet on occasion.

Provide a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. If you don't receive rainfall, use the Finger Test to see when your plant needs water. Use your finger to check below the surface of the soil, near the base of the shrub. If the soil is moist, you can skip watering that day. If it is getting dry, it is time to get your hose out and water. Mulch with a layer of arborist bark chips 3 to 4 inches deep to 3 feet outside of the canopy to ensure the root stays cool in the hot summer.

Plan to do renewal pruning. to keep your shrub in tip-top condition. In fall, prune a few of the oldest, thickest branches all the way down to the ground. Use them in your Holiday and winter décor! Leave the young, thin stems for the best, brightest winter color. You'll love how vivid they'll be with just a few minutes of maintenance each year.
