When you need a superstar shrub in your landscape design, look to the beautiful Strawberry Daiquiri® Siberian Dogwood (Cornus alba 'Stdazam'). Use a single shrub as an incredible accent, or repeat it in every garden bed to tie your entire yard together.

You'll be thrilled at the many ornamental features of this compact, easy-care shrub. It looks wonderful all year. You'll definitely appreciate the pretty springtime presentation, as well. Pointed, mid-toned green leaves are variegated and edged with a creamy-white margin. Clusters of white flowers entice pollinators to visit your yard. Over the season, they develop into pretty, blue berries for your local songbirds.

The variegated leaves are held densely from top to bottom of this compact shrub. Strawberry Daiquiri® (don't you just love that name?) brightens up any landscape! You won't want to miss a second of the dramatic fall foliage display. Your shrub will be ablaze with smoky tones of purple, orange, and pink!

Of course, most people plant Dogwood shrubs for their incredible wintertime stems, and Strawberry Daiquiri® doesn't disappoint. Imagine creating a view of brilliant, strawberry-red stems peeking out of their snowy, white cover!

For those of you in the colder Zones, there is nothing more welcome than a bright, winter display to bring cheer to a long, cold season. And this hardy shrub can really take the cold! It's no wonder why garden designers work with Nature Hills every week of the year. They know they can count on our quality to keep exacting customers happy.

Planting and Application:

Put this shrub front and center, where you'll be sure to see it. This nicely branched, compact shrub is incredibly versatile. Use a single plant as a specimen outside your picture window, or in a lawn planting. Add these to the sunny side of windbreaks and shelterbelts to soften and brighten the look. This wonderful, mid-sized shrub can even tolerate soil that stays wet on occasion. Place them at the outer edges of a Rain Garden for an excellent ornamental display.

Pop several along the length of your mixed shrub borders. They'll pair beautifully with evergreens, Yucca and Ornamental Grasses. Let them shine in your Winter Garden! No matter where you use it, the dormant stems in the fall and winter are a delightfully bright, strawberry-red color. No doubt you will want to cut them for gorgeous winter arrangements, both indoors and out.

Plant them 3 feet apart on center to create a solid low screen along the length of your fence. Measure from the center of one to the center of the next. Create a massed planting on a slope. Add other Red Twigged Dogwoods and Creme de Mint™ Siberian Dogwood to add additional color. Add a row near your driveway, planted perpendicularly against the prevailing winds. You'll trap snow and reduce your shoveling while keeping your yard looking great!

Plant on the sunny side of existing evergreen hedges and shelterbelts for a huge boost of visual interest in winter, spring, summer and fall. Try keeping your shrub in an informally pruned form that allows you to still enjoy the flowers and fruit throughout the growing season. The gorgeous, variegated foliage looks crisp and fresh all season. Flowers, berries, and bright winter appeal add to the value of this ornamental charmer.

  • White Bloom Clusters for Butterflies

  • Bright Strawberry Red Stems in Winter

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Plant in full sun for the brightest color. Although Strawberry Daiquiri will grow in partial shade, you'll get the brightest stems for winter with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day. Like most Dogwoods, it will love well-drained soil. However, it is widely adaptable to most soils, including those that might be wet on occasion.

Provide a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. If you don't receive rainfall, use the Finger Test to see when your plant needs water. Use your finger to check below the surface of the soil, near the base of the shrub. If the soil is moist, you can skip watering that day. If it is getting dry, it is time to get your hose out and water. Mulch with a layer of arborist bark chips 3 to 4 inches deep to 3 feet outside of the canopy to ensure the root stays cool in the hot summer.

Plan to do renewal pruning. to keep your shrub in tip-top condition. In fall, prune a few of the oldest, thickest branches all the way down to the ground. Use them in your Holiday and winter décor! Leave the young, thin stems for the best, brightest winter color. You'll love how vivid they'll be with just a few minutes of maintenance each year.

  • Widely Adaptable in Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Can Tolerate Periodically Wet Well-Drained Soils
  • Tolerates Road Salt & Urban Conditions
  • Prune/Renewal Prune Late Winter
  • Super Cold Hardy, Seldom Bothered By Deer & Easy Care
