Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

The Spiraea Shibori (Spiraea japonica 'Shirobana') is an unusual Spirea that forms multi-colored flower clusters that pollinators adore! Quickly developing into small, upright, and attractive deciduous shrubs that become smothered in these lovely flat-topped fizzy-looking blooms! Attractive mounding shrubs form naturally rounded shapes to garden beds!

It is a well-branched plant with flowers forming flat clusters by mid-June, ranging from a mixed pink to creamy white. This dense, mounded shrub has medium-green leaves that are oval and toothed, looking fantastic for long after the flowers have finished their bloom. Pollinators adore these blooms and birds seek out the seeds if they're allowed to remain after the flowers fade.

Now, in some climates, Shibori Spiraea is known to perform too well. Nature Hills Nursery is at the forefront of environmental regulatory compliance. We use an online tool called Plant Sentry™, which blocks shipments of plants that can behave invasively in your locale. Enter your zip code in the Plant Highlights section to see if there are any regulations on trade in your area.

Planting and Application:

Shibori Spiraea is a highly versatile and ornamental flowering accent that works well in mass plantings, mixed borders, and informal hedges. Their low-maintenance nature makes them fantastic for large rows, groupings, and as foundation plantings! The multi-color blooms add varying hues to your backdrops and pollinator gardens, cottage garden, along borders and sidewalks!

Shibori Spirea is the perfect plant for spicing up northern native plant landscapes and wild garden woodlands, also use in containers around seating areas and screening off a peaceful romantic secret garden, around a bistro set, reading nook, or around your porch to add lacy finery!

  • Blooms Clusters Range Pink To White
  • Versatile Dense Mounding Shrub
  • Dark Green Toothy Foliage
  • Reblooms When Deadheaded
  • Containers, Low Hedges, Border & Woodland Plantings

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Thriving in full sun, Spirea are very adaptable to soil and moisture once established, preferring moderate, consistent moisture and well-drained soil. It is best to deadhead spent flowers to encourage prolonged secondary bloom and to prevent self-sowing. Prune back plants and remove weak and dead stems in early spring to promote strong healthy new growth and larger more abundant flower heads.

  • Full Sun
  • Tolerates Many Well-Drained Soil Types
  • Moderate to Average Moisture Needs
  • Loves a Mulched Bed
  • Prune/Shear/Deadhead Immediately After Flowering

Easy care beauty, the Shibori Spireas two-tone blooms are just the colorful interest your landscape needs to enliven the scene! Get neat and tidy garden additions to spice up your view from NatureHills.com today!
