Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

All the bubblegum pink color, none of the stickiness! The Gumball Spirea (Spiraea x bumalda 'Gumball') is a delightfully compact shrub that displays attractive hot pink flowers in May-June! These flowers are complimented by the new growth of leaves that emerge purplish, then turn a bluish-green in spring and summer. In the fall the leaves turn brilliant shades of burgundy, orange and yellow! What a colorful show!

The gorgeous foliage and brilliant blooms are lovely spring flowering shrubs and their easy-care nature has earned these types of Spirea their well-earned place among commercial landscaping and general garden use! Compact and bushy, these are fantastic flowering ornamentals for color whether in bloom or not, spring, summer and fall!

Pollinators adore these blooms! Growing only 2 feet in height and a tidy 3-4 feet in width, these cold-hardy shrubs are ideal for small-space gardening and urban yards to brighten your world! Hardy in USDA growing zones 3-8, they're very adaptable and versatile.

Planting and Application:

A nice-sized compact shrub, it makes a good low shrub border. Gumball is ideal for small spaces. Tolerant of urban and modern city conditions, so feel safe planting these shrubs to divide your front yard from the sidewalk, and along a driveway where the salt and environment won't affect these plants! Brilliant colored specimens and accents for cottage gardens and pollinator borders, you'll love the pop of candy pink color all spring!

Gumball Spirea's very easy-care nature makes it great for group or mass plantings, borders, or foundation plantings. The low height makes them fantastic facer shrubs and edging along paths. Perfect for containers and planters around porches, patios and even balcony container gardening in the sun!

  • Hot Pink Flower Clusters
  • Purple Spring, Blue-Green Summer & Burgundy, Orange & Yellow Fall Foliage
  • Neat, Tidy & Compact
  • Reblooming Vigorous Grower
  • Low Hedges, Containers & Mixed-Shrub Borders

#ProPlantTips for Care:

This Spirea will thrive in most locations and should be pruned after flowering and in early spring. It prefers full sun to light shade and well-drained soil. Gumball is resistant to drought and is very urban tolerant! Preferring moderately moist soil that is well-drained and with a 3-4 inch layer of mulch to insulate roots and maintain moisture levels. Prune by cutting down all branches to the base of the plant every year in the late winter or early spring, leaving a few inches with buds to regrow. Then deadhead or shear plants immediately after flowering.
