Add them to cutting gardens for season-long filler and flowers. Enjoy the flower power of these small, mounded deciduous shrubs.

Low hedges help delineate garden areas. Create a solid hedge by planting 2 feet apart on center. You'll measure from the center of one to the center of the next.

Brighten up wide, open spaces with Anthony Waterer Spirea in an incredible mass planting. Use a staggered, zig-zagging planting pattern 2 feet apart on center. Mulch between plants and keep new mass plantings weeded until the plants grow together and touch.

These firewise shrubs are often listed for use in Defensible Space Zones around your home. Check with your state forestry agencies and local fire protection district to see if they'll work in your area as a firescaping plant.

Anthony Waterer Spirea produces early-season flowers, which play an important role in pollination. Plant these flower factories near your edible landscape, veggie garden, or backyard orchard to entice pollinators and control pests.

#ProPlantTips for Care

You'll get the best color with good sun exposure. Ensure they receive at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight.

In warmer climates, they will appreciate a little shade in the afternoon. Northern gardeners in Zone 4 can plant in a full sun position.

This versatile shrub is quite hardy and is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils, as long as they aren't saturated with long-standing water. If your planting site has a heavy soil type that retains water, simply create a raised bed for planting to improve your drainage.

Give plants and containers a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. This plant will benefit from a 3 to 4-inch layer of mulch to keep the root system cool and minimize surface moisture evaporation.

This plant requires little pruning to maintain its shape. Do one heavy prune in late winter to early spring. Cut your plants back by half to bring the plants down and make them uniform before the flushes of flowers begin. It blooms on new wood, so prune to encourage branching and flushes of new flowers.

Deadheading encourages new blooms sooner. After the first round of flowers, doing a light prune to snip off spent blooms will reward you with more blooms right up until fall.

Enjoy this tough little shrub that won't require much care. Anthony Waterer Spirea gives you a variable and lively dash of color spring through fall. Order now!
