Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Dramatic pyramidal form creates an exceptional landscape with easy-care trees like the Skyline Honeylocust Tree (Gleditsia triacanthos var. inermis 'Skycole')! This is a fantastic choice that grows into a blissfully low-maintenance landscape that works hard for you and your family.

Thousands of tiny, toothed leaflets hang in pretty compound clusters. Each flutters in the breeze, and has a calming summer sound that helps you relax. Skyline Honeylocust develops a magnificent pyramidal canopy.

This thornless variety smells good in the spring and brings butterflies to the tiny spring flowers. As the season progresses, the green foliage turns a bold golden-yellow for fall color. Strong branches and a sturdy trunk make this an attractive focal point all year long throughout USDA growing zones 4 to 9!

Planting and Application:

Call Skyline Honeylocust your "Perfect Lawn Tree"! This is a great choice to set up a hammock stand underneath or situate over a backyard seating area and patio! Durable shade trees like this state-of-the-art cultivar make all the difference in outdoor living. Hang out in its shade, while enjoying a lush lawn underneath it.

Give yourself something incredible to look at from your deck with one planted on the southwestern corner of your home. Reduce your cooling bills, too! Shade trees increase the property value of your home, and make outdoor living much more enjoyable.

Keep it in a mulched bed and underplant with Hydrangea and other flowering plants for a lovely landscaped planting. But these are also tough enough as street trees where road salt, car exhaust, compacted soil, and urban conditions are prevalent.

  • Filtered Light Shade Allows Lawn to Grow Underneath
  • Brilliant Yellow Fall Color & Easy Fall Clean-Up
  • Thornless Cultivar!
  • Tiny Flowers Smell Fresh & Bring Butterflies
  • Sidewalk Friendly Root System & Excellent Shade Tree

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Honeylocusts are admired for their serious durability and fast growth. They can handle heat, cold, drought, heavy rain urban conditions and compacted soils. Plant this deciduous tree in full sun and give them moderate water and well-drained soils while they are establishing. Then once settled, their roots can be quite xeric/drought-tolerant.

Top the soil with a 3-4 inch thick layer of arborist mulch - especially when planted in the lawn. Create a buffer zone extending 3-4 feet from the trunk to protect the bark from mower and weed-wacker damage. Shape young trees in late winter with strategic pruning cuts to open the canopy and balance the branch structure.

  • Rugged Full Sun Tree Tolerates Tough Conditions
  • Adaptable to Most Well-Drained Soil Types
  • Moderate to Low Moisture Needs Once Established
  • Prune When Dormant
  • Waterwise & Heat Tolerant Once Established
