Planting a flowering Ornamental tree in the garden is a fantastic way to add accents of color and a whole bucket full of beautiful blooms. However, choosing which color can be difficult, they are all so incredible! White gives the yard a sense of pristine calm but pink stands out like no other. The Shirofugen Flowering Cherry Tree (Prunus serrulata 'Shirofugen') offers a continuously changing show of pinks and whites all through its spring bloom season!
The flower buds appear light pink in color at first and then, over the course of the blooming process, brighten to white. The double blossoms stay white for a while, but not for long! The leaves make for a fascinating follow-up to the intensely pink blooms of late spring. Once fall arrives, the tree gives you one more color to marvel at as the leaves turn a reddish-orange before finally falling for the year.
