Add a touch of magic to your backyard projects with some Voodoo Sedum (Sedum spurium 'Voodoo'). This particular perennial Sedum sports green, fleshy leaves with a flush of deep mahogany red foliage for a majority of the year, with these waxy, jagged ovals slowly rising a few inches off the ground as the plant grows.

The reddish stems of this Sedum will start to curve upward as the plant matures, leaving space for buds amongst the foliage. In the summer the plant's upright stems produce vivid pink-and-red-tipped flowers that bloom like stars, bringing a unique color to the season! Voodoo is a spectacle you won't want to miss!

This Sedum's blooms are a sight to behold, with a pinkish-purple so bright the blooms almost seem to glow in the evening sunset. The Voodoo Sedum's flowers are as mystical as its name, and this bloom is a great addition to any garden! It even boasts the darkest burgundy of all red Sedum, so this deep red could be used as a neat focal point or sharp contrast depending on the garden's direction.

Butterflies and other neighborhood pollinators love them just as much as you will, too! Those pink flowers might have to compete for attention with the wonderfully bright butterfly wings! This plant's flowers can provide nectar to the local pollinators but are largely left alone by deer or rabbits.

Planting and Application:

This semi-evergreen perennial is both low-maintenance and a great way to reduce weed growth in your sunny planting areas! This plant brings to the table a unique coloration among perennials. Take a step away from your traditional green sheet of leaves and use this Sedum to shake things up a bit. Plant Voodoo Sedum at the base of your perennial garden for a strong, hardy foundation that brings its own color without stealing the show from the taller plants on display.

Do you have a flower bed in need of an eye-catching border? Line the edges with Voodoo Sedum and watch the bright blossoms of the other perennials shine against Voodoo's dark coloring! Rock Gardens in search of a touch of magenta need look no further than a healthy Voodoo Sedum. This Sedum thrives in drier soils, making it a welcome addition to the rugged conditions of the average sun garden, thrives in the harsh hell strip, and is recommended for use around the fire-wise landscape!

Due to its low growth level, this perennial is best grown around the base of your taller shrubs and plants. Planting Sedums about a foot apart can lead to a vibrant and effective deterrent to future weed growth.

In addition to being a great weed deterrent, the Voodoo Stonecrop is very durable, needing little moisture to grow. This plant is great for those with a landscape in need of a splash of color, or for a plant owner who sometimes forgets to water their garden from time to time!

The Voodoo sedum can do more than just provide groundcover for other perennials as well. Several Voodoo Sedums can be assigned planters and spillers in container gardens scattered around a patio or garden to accent the space well. Better yet, plant in the same planter with another Sedum for an eye-catching bicolor effect.

Pollinators will go head-over-heels for the Voodoo Sedum's star-shaped flowers as well! The bright purple petals may as well be a flashing sign advertising a free buffet of nectar to the butterflies and bees that call your backyard home, and the plant's low stature helps to enable tiers of flowers for an efficient and beautiful pollinator garden.

  • Unique Green Succulent Foliage Rimmed in Deep Red/Purple Trim
  • Reddish-Pink Stems & Starry Pink Flower Clusters
  • Mid-Summer Bloomer - Loved by Pollinators
  • Great in Rock Gardens, Containers, Xeric & Fire-Wise

#ProPlantTips for Care:

These low-maintenance plants thrive in full sun and partial shade, especially afternoon shade in hotter climates. Sedum prefers well-drained soil and to be kept on the dry side. Water these perennials regularly to get established, afterwards, they only need supplemental watering during times of extreme heat and drought! Thriving in clay soils, gravel, and sand, any soil in full sun that is dry to medium moisture is perfect for these plants! For better moisture retention, add a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch around the root zone to keep more moisture consistency in the soil. Rake gently or prune in the very early spring, and divide clumps every 3-5 years to maintain vigor.

  • Super Easy Care in Full Sun
  • Thrives in Heat & Poor Soil
  • Well-Drained Soil Conditions
  • Moderate Moisture Needs - Low Once Established
  • Prune Back In Very Early Spring
  • Deer & Rabbit Resistant & Drought Tolerant
