Also known as Stonecrop, plant your Neon Sedum in a full-sun location, the more sun the better! Your low-maintenance Neon Sedum will need enriched but very well-drained soil so moisture doesn't drown the roots. The succulent-like leaves store water, which makes this Sedum drought-tolerant.

During the first growing season, water your perennial Sedum regularly so it can grow to its full potential. Once the Sedum is established, you can relax on the watering. Like succulents, they don't need an excessive amount of water. Sedum is a water-wise perennial but does appreciate a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch around the root zone to keep more moisture consistency in the soil.

Neon should be pruned each year in early spring by removing all of the flowers and stems down to the crown. As the plants come out of dormancy they will produce all new growth from the ground up. It is a great candidate to leave the dried flower heads on as they are very showy all winter long and feed birds looking for a late-season snack.

Clean mounds in the very early spring by pruning back a few inches above the ground, and every few years it is recommended that you divide your clumps to keep them growing vigorously.
