You'll feel like a genius with this pretty choice. Not only are they carefree landscape plants, but you'll gain an edible cooking spice and pretty garnish for your kitchen.
These days, more people are seeking out ways to improve their "food security" with ornamental edible plants. Use the leaves like chives in the kitchen. Add the edible flowers as garnish on your plate.
Society Garlic gives you that fabulous taste of good, strong garlic. But don't worry! This native of South Africa is polite and won't cause bad breath.
You'll certainly appreciate the sophisticated good looks of the mounded, compact form. Airy, white flowers are held aloft on long stalks over the grass-like leaves.
The plants bloom for months and months! This long-lasting display visually cools things down. Look closer to see the cheerful yellow anthers punctuating the centers.
Each clove will develop roots and grow all fall and into winter right up until the soil freezes just like how a tulip bulb would. Then in the spring, your garlic plants will start growing early and strong which will make nice large bulbs of garlic that can be harvested in July or so depending upon where you are located.
Use as a low-lying groundcover in a sunny spot. Savanna Lightning tolerates more shade than its cousin varieties, so you can plant where you get afternoon shade, too. This is especially true in hot, dry summers.
Place an order for the popular Savanna Lightning Society Garlic today! These pretty little workhorses are worth their weight in gold, and this year's crop will sell quickly.
How to Use Savanna Society Garlic in the Landscape
Tough enough for commercial landscapes, these desirable plants behave beautifully in home gardens, too. Plant them 8 inches apart for a solid, seamless low hedge along the edge of your kitchen garden.
Try them here and there along the edges of outdoor dining rooms. They'll easily soften the look and be close at hand for harvest.
Busy executives need a respite at home after a busy day. Why not create a Moon Garden with a palette of all white-flowering plants? Include Savanna Lightning tucked away near the edges of your garden bed.
Use them as a "Filler" in a mixed planting. They also make a high-impact standalone anchor plant in matching large containers placed prominently along the length of the bed.
Combine with the heavenly fragrant Sugar Moon Hybrid Tea Roses. They'll be a perfect contrasting foil at the base of rough-textured Limelight Hydrangeas.
Be sure to chill a nice glass of Riesling wine to enjoy with the sights and scents of your Moon Garden! Unwind and relax in the evening hours in your created paradise.
Live in cold winter zones? Use Society Garlic as a very special seasonal container plant.
Or go for a clean modern look with a mass planting of these charming plants. Fill the center of a planting bed with Savanna Lightning, and edge the border with Baby Gem Boxwood.
Get creative with these lovely white Society Garlic plants!
#ProPlantTips for Care
Once the root systems are established in your soil, Savanna Lightning Society Garlic is a tough, clump-forming plant. Put the root side down and pointed side up into the loosened soil and cover with an inch or two of soil and water in well. Give it full or partial sun for best results with at least 4 hours of direct sunlight a day.
Fleshy rhizomes store water, which means this plant will tolerate low water conditions. However, you'll get more flowers and prettier foliage with regular amounts of moderate water. Fall planted garlic will develop the nice full bulbs with big cloves.
Prune off spent flower stalks to the height of the leaves. Clip back yellowing leaves to the base of the crown through the season. You can prune them to within a few inches of the ground in early spring to refresh them, as you like.
Enjoy months of pretty white blooms and glossy blue-green leaves with Savanna Lightening Society Garlic! Order from our experts today.
