The lovely Lacey Blue Russian Sage (Formerly Perovskia atriplicifolia 'Lacey Blue' & reclassified as Salvia yangii 'Lisslitt') is a versatile and highly valued landscape perennial, and boasts the largest flowers of any Russian Sage! Lacey Blue is a perennial with an exceptionally long season of interest. Forming a bushy mound of fragrant grey-green leaves makes for the perfect backdrop for the blooms!

Lacey Blue bears copious spikes of deep-blue flowers from mid-summer into early fall. The grayish-green foliage is scented and carries a cloud of small deep blue flowers on wide stems. This Russian Sage offers a charming, open, and airy feel and brings in the butterflies and bees!

Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 5 to 9, Lacey Blue Ornamental Sage spreads 2 to 3 feet wide but grows short, at 12-18 inches tall when in bloom, becoming a fantastic groundcover bursting with vibrant purple flower spikes! This water-wise plant is a flower machine from late spring to the first frost.

Planting and Application:

Amazing, eye-catching focal points in the perennial garden, as a low edging and border plant, or along a walkway where you can brush past the greenery and enjoy the Mint-Family scent! Add a row in front of your evergreen foundation hedge to hide the bare leggy stems of your shrubs, while giving Lacey Blue a dark backdrop to show off against!

Landscapes in the sun gain a low, wid-spreading filler and a purple element spilling over your brick edging, over the tops of retaining walls, or go big with an en masse planting in xeric sunny swaths of landscape or on a hot sun-drenched slope. This Russian Sage will slow erosion while adding a wave of purple to an eyesore!

Lacey Blue is great for smaller gardens and terrific in mixed containers! Acting as a low-growing edge plant and both a filler and spiller, this prolific little bloomer adds long-lasting beauty to your container gardens, window boxes, and urns in the sun!

Pollinators will love these blooms! So plant Lacey Blue anywhere you want butterflies! Like the Rock Garden for an airy, fine-textured element, a lacy texture in the Cottage Garden, and purple mist among mixed perennial borders! Russian Sage tolerates salt spray, so use it along your street and sidewalk plantings and along your driveway!

  • Purple Airy Spires Of Tiny Florets
  • Blooms For Months!
  • Amazing Fragrance & Aromatic Foliage
  • Pollinator Friendly & Pretty Bouquet Filler
  • Great Xeric Plant, Erosion Control & Fire-Wise Landscaping Perennial
  • Flowering Groundcover, Low-Growing Edging, Borders, Container Spiller & En Masse

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Lacey Blue is an easy-to-grow perennial and drought-tolerant once established. Its densely bushy, branching habit prevents flopping, which can be a big problem with Russian Sage planted in the wrong environment. Keep yours growing best by planting in the full sun, in well-drained soil, with moderate to low moisture access once they are established!

Ensure the water drains away from the crown quickly. Elevate your planting bed, or plant in containers with lots of drainage holes or on a berm with fast-draining soil. Tolerating periodic drought, Sages flower best when they receive an even amount of water on a regular basis when young. Prune to about 6 inches in early spring just as you notice new growth in the early spring. Every 3-5 years, divide Russian Sage to prevent overcrowding.

  • Full Sun Lover
  • Any Well-Drained Soil Type
  • Moderate to Low Moisture Needs - Drought Tolerant Once Established
  • Prune Early Spring
  • Deer Tend to Leave This One Alone

For months of blooms on a fragrant, popular perennial, you can't go wrong with the Lacey Blue Russian Sage from NatureHills.com!
