Burning Bush shrubs do best, and have the best fall color, in a full sun area. However, they can also withstand partial sun. Very cold hardy, these feature a number of resistances and tolerances including resistance to pollution in urban areas, rarely bothered by pests or disease, and seldom bothered by deer! Requiring very well-drained soil and moderate yet regular moisture, these are very tough deciduous shrubs! Top off the soil with 3 to 4 inches of arborist mulch, to keep the root system cool and moist.

Rudy Haag is not the fastest growing, but slower-growing shrubs require less maintenance and pruning! If you do prune, do so right after flowering to remove the potential of the berries that birds eat and can disperse throughout the environment. Because of this seed dispersal, sometimes Euonymus can grow a bit too well in some areas of the country and cannot be shipped there to protect the native flora.
