Growing Zones 5-10
Just as rainbows present a variety of colors, the remarkable Rainbow Knock Out® Rose Tree (Rosa x 'Radcor') provides multi-colored appeal with shades of burgundy, green, pink, yellow, and gold from spring through fall! The stand-out feature of this gorgeous Shrub Rose variety turned elegant tree-form, is of course its abundant 5-petaled blossoms that appear in May and keep on blooming right up until the first frost!
Just like the well-known and well-loved Shrub Form of this fantastically showy Rose Tree, you'll get a varied ombre or patchwork effect all over the entire rounded canopy of yellow-centered, pinky, peachy, coral blooms of every shade you can imagine! Each 2-inch bloom begins as a one-inch bud of deep, coral pink. As the blossom opens, lighter shades of coral pink take the stage, with a brilliant yellow center and golden stamens topping off the brilliant display.
Even Rainbow's semi-glossy foliage provides the garden color. New leaves begin with a burgundy hue, then transition to shades of dark green before providing burgundy color once again for the autumn landscape. Plus, orange-red Rosehips add their decorative accent once the flowers have gone. Use these hips for tea, preserves, dried décor, and crafts, or leave them outside for the birds and for winter interest!
This sturdy Rose tree is expertly grafted and super cold and heat tolerant throughout USDA growing zones 5 to 10, there's little this hardy Shrub Rose can't handle! Very low-maintenance and easy to grow, even the most novice gardener can have success! These Rainbow Knock Out® Rose Trees ideal gifts and long-lasting memorial plantings! Standing atop its 2-3 foot tall, straight, and sturdy Rose standard trunk, Rainbow Tree Rose stands head and shoulders above the rest!
Planting and Application:
Rainbow Knock Out® Roses seem to glow in the sunlight! Plant them near your patio seating area, and you'll heighten the scene for family and friends. You'll enjoy radiant multi-hued bouquets and your pollinators will love the nectar-rich blooms! Achieve a multi-level mass planting or eye-catching grouping by surrounding your Rose tree with its shrub form! Or create modern plantings by alternating Knock Out® Groundcover Roses with punctuations of their Tree forms in between in long straight, evenly-spaced rows!
Rainbow Knock Out® Tree Roses would make a lovely accent to a border along a walkway or add height to a Rose garden, perennial border, or Cottage garden! For major curb appeal and neighborhood clout, plant one in a container for your front porch. Go big with a matched set on either side of your front entry stairs or front door in the sun! There's nothing like greeting guests with a tree of rainbow Roses!
Plant them in the ground or use them in colorful containers. Use one or several in a long drift or mass planting for a huge boost of curb appeal. Use several as "Thrillers" in large containers placed along your patio for an easy-breezy summer display. You'll be able to dress these up and down. #ProPlantTips for Care:
Rainbow loves full sun, but unlike some Rose varieties, can also be tolerant of just a little shade in the afternoons - especially in the hottest of its favored growing zone range. Provide a location in soil that drains well and has good air circulation. Water enough to maintain consistent soil moisture at first, but once established, Knock Out® Roses are quite self-reliant except during extreme conditions.
Feed a good organic fertilizer in early spring, and again in mid-summer. Mulch your plants to 3 to 4 inches deep and spread out 3 feet. This will keep roots cool and maintain surface moisture. This will also help in controlling weeds and provides a nice, uniform look to the garden bed.
Rose Tree Care & Pruning
Some winter protection for Tree Form Roses is suggested for the cooler zones by overwintering your Rose in an unheated garage after it goes dormant, or outside with a straw and burlap wrap. Then in spring, take it back out or unwrap it and trim the head back to about a 1-2 foot sphere just as it begins to grow again in spring.
Early each spring, after the last frost of the year has passed, it's always a good idea to prune back the Rose tree several inches to maintain the nice round form atop its trunk. Keep new blooms returning with occasional deadheading, quickly improving your overall display. Prune away suckers and branching that forms at the base or on the trunk each year too. Find more info about pruning Roses, winterizing Roses, and un-wintering Roses in spring.
Like all Knock Outs®, these are bred for toughness, disease resistance, and pest resistance and are self-cleaning (so you won't need to fuss with deadheading throughout the seasons). They won't give you any trouble in the landscape!

Rose Bush FAQs
Where Is The Best Place To Plant Rose Bushes?
Roses need a protected location, prefer full sun, and favor the drying power of the morning sun, and flower best in at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day. Choose a location in good, enriched soil that drains well and has good air circulation.
What Is The Best Month to Plant Roses?
You can plant Roses any time if you are able to provide enough consistent moisture and attention. There is not a specific month that is best, generally because it changes with temperatures, climate, and growing zone. However, the easiest times of the year to get Rose bushes established in your landscape are in spring after the last frost date, and in fall about 4-6 weeks before the first frost.
Do Roses Come Back Every Year?
Rose bushes are deciduous woody perennial shrubs and will return bigger and better each year.
