Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Calla Lily flowers, botanically known as a spathe, arrive in late spring to summer upon tall stems above the unique foliage. A deep, saturated purple hue with a lighter throat, the blooms are offset by a glowing white to yellow, finger-like spadix in the center. These are beautiful flowers!

Rising above the backdrop of deep-green foliage, the striking flowers call butterflies and hummingbirds to the garden! Long, spear-like foliage with a slight ripple to the edge and curious speckles all over the leaves, are as clean and formal as their blooms!

Perfect flowering plants in containers and specimen plants, even northern gardeners can enjoy these blooms all growing season as hardy perennials.

While not cold-hardy, northern gardeners use these as annual thrillers in containers or moved into a greenhouse or enclosed patio for the winter. Often these can be used as houseplants for the winter with great success! Cold climate gardeners can also dig these tubers in fall and store them as they would Dahlia or Canna bulbs, keeping them in cool storage in garages or sheds for the winter months.

Slowly spreading, the rhizomes and tubers multiply politely. Filling Perennial, Cottage and Cutting garden beds with vivid blooms! Incredible cut flowers for vases and bouquets, florists often use these as boutonnieres, in bridal bouquets and flower arrangements because of their clean lines and simple beauty!

Sized perfectly for container gardening, you’ll enjoy these as colorful thrillers and specimen plants among your patio and balcony planters and pots. Tuck into a sunny window box or create formal rings around potted shrubs and trees for a finished, clean look.

Try creating a focal point planting in your garden by clustering these in a grouping of 3 or more for a stand-out accent! Seating areas, birdbaths, outdoor sculptures and urns become the main feature with a skirting of these around their bases. Their formal structure creates lovely accents in Meditation and Asian-inspired landscapes as well!

#ProPlantTips For Care

Calla are herbaceous perennials in USDA growing zones 8 through 10, those in the colder northern climates can use this as a houseplant or annual in their planters and patio pots.

Preferring full sun or partial shade, those in the warmer of its growing zones will find these do better with some afternoon shade to relieve them from the hot sun.

Calla Lilies require consistent moisture in well-drained soils, so provide regular watering throughout the year. A generous layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture as well as insulate the root system from heat and chill.
