Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Growing Zones 5-8
Deep violet-purple blooms, Pristine Lilac Purple Penstemon (Penstemon barbatus 'Pristine Lilac Purple') is immaculate in color saturation indeed! Tubular deeply-hued flowers climb vertical spikes and wave high above compact clumps of glossy foliage! Native to North America, this carefree perennial thrives with little attention from you, but you'll enjoy seeing it attract all the attention of every hummingbird, bee, and butterfly that passes near your neighborhood!
Need a wildflower with native style and all the perks and adaptability of a modern perennial plant? Beardtongue has this and so much more! Thriving in urban conditions and featuring a small footprint, these perennials retain their hardy nature, xeric and Waterwise qualities, plus are highly adapted to fire-prone landscapes!
Pristine Lilac Purple Penstemon is a very low-maintenance cultivar of the hardy native selection! Once established, Beardtongue is drought tolerant and an ideal xeric landscape plant. Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 to 8, these plants only grow to a space-saving 12-15 inches in height when in bloom, and spread to about the same.
Planting and Application:
Tough enough for the Rock garden, elegant enough for the modern Cut flower garden, and colorful enough to stand out in the most modern of perennial and cottage gardens, Penstemon are true Renaissance plants! The smaller size fits into any sized landscape, porch planter, or balcony container garden as easily as they fill large en masse expanses in the hot, dry sun!
Lilac Purple Penstemon goes beautifully with Muhly grasses, Coneflower, and other Prairie and Wildflower selections, combining with groundcovers and other wand-like flowers of any kind to create height, motion, and color contrast among the Perennial border, front garden berm, or enhance the draw of a Pollinator planting!
- Vivid Deep Violet-Purple Tubular Blooms
- Gorgeous Glossy Green Foliage & Green Stems
- Upright Mounded Herbaceous Perennial
- Small-Sized Xeric & Very Easy-Care
- Specimen, Xeric, Firewise, Beds & Borders & Container Plants
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Penstemon are herbaceous perennials that bloom best in full sun and in well-drained soil conditions, preferring average soil types on the lean side. Provide regular moisture access throughout their first year, but once established, these are wonderfully drought-tolerant and waterwise! Appreciating a 3-4 inch thick layer of arborist mulch over the roots, these are very cold tolerant. You can leave these seed heads as winter interest and attract songbirds, or deadhead them to tidy up the mounds in fall. Prune mounds down late fall after frost, and divide every few years to maintain the vigor of the crown.
- Full Sun
- Average to Low Fertility & Average to Low Moisture
- Well-Drained Soil & Appreciates Mulch
- Drought-Tolerant Once Established
