Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Pretty Princess Kay Flowering Plum Tree (Prunus nigra 'Princess Kay') is a small, ornamental tree with dramatic contrast. Plant one in a prominent spot in your yard where you're sure to enjoy its spring display!

Your Princess Kay Ornamental Plum was discovered in the wilds of northern Minnesota. It's a small, single-stemmed tree but packs a large amount of appeal into its little frame. It has an upright form with an open, informal branching habit.

Even before the foliage appears in the spring, a profusion of double flowers, white and fluffy, appear before the leaves arrive. The white blossoms are a sharp contrast against the black/brown bark of the trunk and branches that also feature large white lenticels for an added and unique decorative appeal.

As the flowers age, they take on a slight, pinkish hue providing a second wave of color!

The foliage of your Princess Kay Ornamental Plum is a nice mid-green but sometimes develops a reddish-purple cast by fall to enhance your autumn garden! One thing that you may notice that is missing from these Flowering Plums is fruit! This is a sterile tree so that means no mess!

Planting and Application:

Looking fantastic throughout each growing season, Princess Kay deserves the spotlight! Plant yours in your front yard on a raised berm, in a mulched circle garden, or by your front entry to have all eyes on its dramatic seasonal changes!

Include these mid-sized ornamental trees among your landscaping beds to provide a touch of shade and heaps of interest! Keep the lower limbs on your young tree when it arrives and enjoy gorgeous screening hedges and backdrops for your gardens too!

The blooms are also fragrant which is a delightful treat as you take a spring walk through your yard, watching as the blossoms lure pollinators to your landscape! Birds love these trees as shelter and nesting sites, even though they are sterile and will not produce messy fruit.

These trees can sometimes produce suckers, and you can remove them for a cleaner look or let them create thickets that birds and butterflies adore! This does however mean your Princess Kay is ideal for use close to pavement, sidewalks, and seating areas where fruit that may stain or make a mess is undesirable.

  • Radiant White Fragrant Blossoms Age Pinkish
  • Green Foliage All Growing Season
  • Dark Stems & Bark Provides Contrast
  • Sterile Fruiless Form
  • Gorgeous Specimens, Accent Trees, Hedges & Small Shade Ornamentals

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Princess Kay is adaptable to a range of soil conditions, but you'll want to choose a sunny spot for optimal performance. It tends to bloom when very young, so you won't have to wait long for results. Prune your tree in late winter when it is dormant to remove wayward growth and broken stems, but mow down suckers and prune for size after flowering if you desire. All plants appreciate a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch around their root system.

  • Full Sun Deciduous Tree
  • Moderate Moisture
  • Any Well-Drained Soil
  • Prune When Dormant
  • Easy To Grow Ornamental Tree

For an ornamental tree that doesn't take much room or require a lot of care, Princess Kay Flowering Plum Tree provides a lot of value. Why not grow your own white puffy cloud of fragrant flowers today?
