Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

For best results, plant in full sun in a well-drained area. Pretty Parasol Gray Coneflower is a full sun-loving herbaceous perennial. Any hot sunny garden plot is fantastic for these long-lasting blooms!

Reaching about 3 feet in height at maturity, Coneflowers form dense clumps of mounded foliage that stay put where it's planted. Not particular on soil type, any well-drained soil that's been enriched with compost and mulched is best. All plants appreciate a 3-4-inch layer of arborist mulch and Nature Hills Root Booster to keep them stress-free.

This tough plant is drought tolerant once established but will perform its best with medium moisture soil that drains very well. Use a raised bed, or grow them in containers if you have poorly drained soil that retains water for a long time.

Divide clumps when they become overcrowded, about every 4 years. Echinacea is known for its large flower heads that go to seed in the fall. Pretty Parasol Gray Coneflower usually reblooms after some deadheading, but if spent flowers are removed, this will encourage continued beautiful blooms and improve general appearance.

If you leave some spent blooms on the plants in the fall, their seeds provide winter food for songbirds. You can enjoy the dried seed heads as well because they will provide architectural interest in the winter.

  • Bloom Best & Strongest Stems In Full Sun
  • Any Well-Drained Soil Type
  • Moderate Moisture Needs - Drought-Tolerant Once Established
  • Deadhead Often For More Blooms & Prune Early Spring
  • Heat & Cold Hardy - Deer, Rabbit & Pest-Resistant
  • Low Maintenance & Easy Care

Our native Echinacea varieties do great throughout most of the country with very little care. These are tough, vigorous Coneflowers who tolerate even rookie gardeners!
