This pop star isn't a diva! We've had our brushes with fame. We've met movie stars, television stars, politicians and musicians! Some of them get a bad rap. Some of them deserve their reputations. The Rock 'N Round® Popstar Sedum (Sedum 'Popstar') from Proven Winners®, is one of those plants that could have the reputation of being a diva, but once you get to know it, you'll realize that there is nothing diva-like about it!

This is a really pretty plant, too! Blue-green foliage covers a compact mound of dense leaves that are the perfect underplanting for the clouds of salmon-pink flowers the plant will grow every year. Sometimes the flowers are so thick that you can't see the foliage at all for a while. What a nice problem to have, no?

The tiny clusters of bright, star-shaped blooms are a pollinator's favorite, but also provide mounds of rounded color all summer and into the autumn! Hardy perennials throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9, Popstar is a cute little hybrid Sedum perennial ornamental that stays about a foot tall when in bloom and spreads to about 1-2 feet in width.

Planting and Application:

Rock 'N Round® Popstar pairs well with Superstar Sedum, and other mat-forming Sedum are a great way to reduce weed growth in your sunny planting areas! Take a step away from your traditional green sheet of leaves and use this Creeping Sedum to shake things up a bit.

Do you have a flower bed in need of an eye-catching border? Line the edges with Popstar Sedum and watch the bright blossoms of the other plants sing! Rock Gardens are perfect locations because Sedum thrives in drier soils, is a welcome addition to the rugged conditions of the average sun garden, thrives in the harsh hell strip, and is recommended for use around the fire-wise landscape!

Due to its low growth level, this perennial is best grown around the base of your taller shrubs and plants. Planting Sedums about a foot apart can lead to a vibrant and effective deterrent to future weed growth. Sedum can do more than just provide groundcover for other perennials as well. Several Sedums can be assigned planters and spillers in container gardens scattered around a patio or garden to accent the space well. Better yet, plant in the same planter with another Sedum for an eye-catching bicolor effect.

In addition to being a great weed deterrent, the Rock 'N Round® Popstar Stonecrop is very durable, needing little moisture to grow. This plant is great for those with a landscape in need of a splash of color, or for a plant owner who sometimes forgets to water their garden from time to time! Fill a wide, open area with a mass planting to pretty up large drifts of bare ground, slow erosion on slopes, and create a spectacle out of a hard-to-mow hillside!

  • Bright Star-Shaped Salmon-Pink Flowers
  • Blue-Green Succulent Foliage
  • Mounding Creeping Sedum
  • Great in Rock Gardens, Containers, Xeric & Fire-Wise
  • Low-Maintenance, Groundcover, Containers, Edging & Between Paths

#ProPlantTips for Care:

This is a low-maintenance plant that is very content to just be! Popstar actually thrives in full sun and poor soil but can do well in pampered garden conditions too. During the first season, give it a medium amount of water on a regular basis. After the fleshy roots are well-established in your soil, you can ease off on the supplemental water. We always recommend that you protect your investment with water in a prolonged drought. But Sedum is a water-wise perennial, but do appreciate a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch around the root zone to keep more moisture consistency in the soil.

For a clean-looking appearance, remove the old foliage before new growth begins in the early spring. Once you plant it and get it well established, you'll never have to bother with it again, save for when you want to divide it to share with friends or to expand its territory in your own garden.

  • Thrives in Full Sun
  • Thrives in Almost Any Well-Drained Soil - Poor Soil Tolerant
  • Regular Moisture At First - Drought Tolerant Once Established
  • Prune Down Early Spring
  • Cold Hardy & Heat-Resistant - Deer Don't Prefer This Gorgeous Plant

Put the spotlight on your garden and enjoy the beauty of this easy-going diva! Order your own Proven Winners® Rock 'N Round® Popstar Sedum today from Nature Hills Nursery!
