Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Looking for a unique gift plant, or a high-style accent for the home or office? Then you need to check out the traditional living art form called Kokedama! Easy to care for and maintain, Kokedama has been practiced in Japan for centuries, translating literally as 'Moss Ball', Kokedama is a form of Bonsai where a plant has its roots and soil bundled in a ball of moss and wrapped in twine or string, eliminating the need for a pot or container! Now Nature Hills Nursery is proud to be shipping several varieties of ready-to-enjoy Kokedamas!
Like a fountain of greenery, Ponytail Palms (Beaucarnea recurvata) are unique and sculptural tropical plants now elevated into works of art by way of turning them into Kokedama! Long slender, sometimes curling leaves had an interesting rough sawtoothed margin and have bulbous bases to the light tan trunks. Low moisture needs and very forgiving, there is little to worry and fuss over regarding the care and maintenance of these lovely tropical plants!
In the practice of Feng Shui, Ponytail Palms invite peace and harmony to your interiorscaping and in the office. These are easy to care for houseplants and because of the Kokedama root 'binding' method - they will never need to be repotted! Plus these tropical houseplants are wonderful low-maintenance air purifying plants that improve your health while increasing oxygen levels in your home or office!
Displaying Your Kokedama!
Ponytail Palm Kokedama are incredible on their own, but when they're combined into a living work of art, they become an accent that becomes truly eye-catching. They look best displayed in such a way that their braided trunk can be shown off! Display on your entry console or a coffee table for a lovely conversation piece! Perfect focal points to display on a home or office desk, just be sure to set your Kokedama on a flat stone, a pile of pebbles, on a stand, or in a pretty tray, dish, or bowl to keep moisture away from wood or from warping furniture.
Suspend these plants in a way that won't inhibit their flowing leaves, such as dangling from a thin chain or setting them on a plant swing so they can really show their stuff! These easy-care houseplants are thoughtful and unique housewarming gifts, hostess gifts, or celebratory gifts all around - perfect for newbies and experienced gardeners alike!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Ponytail Palms are ideal houseplants that prefer any kind of bright yet indirect sunlight for the best growth and color. Although, they can also tolerate some partial shade and office lighting too. Check out the full details on caring for your Kokedama Here in our Garden Blog!
To water your Kokedama, simply submerge the bottom 3/4ths of your moss ball in a dish or the sink and let soak for 5-10 minutes. Remove to a draining area for 20 minutes to let excess water run out of the root system. Then place it back into its display! Repeat as necessary, maintaining a moderate yet consistent moisture level.
Ponytail Palms are native to arid parts of Mexico and root rot is a death sentence for these plants. In fact, they prefer to dry out ever so slightly between waterings. Because of many factors, the watering frequency will vary throughout the year. Dry winters with dehumidifiers running may require soaking a couple of times a week! If your Kokedama is as light as air or your plant is wilting or developing brown tips, you need to check it more often, or soak it a bit longer each time.
- Use room temperature filtered, purified, or bottled water - even rainwater
- Bright Indirect Light - Avoid direct sunlight
- Soak for 5-10 minutes & let drain completely
- Avoid AC & heating vent drafts
- Use half-strength fertilizer in the soaking water in spring & fall
Ponytail Palm Kokedama is a green shower of elegance that truly brings harmony and peace to your home or office environment! Order your own unique specimen pieces with these living works of art! Now available at NatureHills.com!
