This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Growing Zones 5-11
A hardy native tree with a slim profile, the Pond Cypress (Taxodium ascendens) is a deciduous coniferous tree with many remarkable features and adaptations! Your Pond Cypress is a lovely tree that is adaptable, fast-growing, and easy to care for.
Its awl-shaped leaves are a vibrant green and soft to the touch. The branches grow from a straight trunk with an upright growth pattern. Pond Cypress' overall impression is of a fine-textured conifer with a pyramidal, narrow shape.
The 3/8-inch, bright green leaves of your Pond Cypress tree transition to coppery hues in the autumn with 1-inch, oval cones creating a decorative touch to the fall/winter landscape. The cones begin with a lively, yellow-tinted green shade that transitions to a rich brown with maturity. A wide variety of birds and wildlife eat these cones and the canopy provides plenty of shelter and nesting!
Native to the South and Southeastern US, these swamp and wetland trees reign alongside their Bald Cypress cousins and are adaptable throughout USDA planting zones 5 to 11. You'll love seeing the flared trunks and rusty exfoliating bark all winter.
Planting and Application:
This narrow-growing tree would be wonderfully planted along your sidewalk, near a pond or swampy area, or in a location where you'd love a stately conifer (but don't have that much room)! It tends to grow quickly and is sure to provide you with years of decorative appeal.
It's a unique water-loving tree that will adjust to both moist and dry conditions, and narrow enough in its growth pattern to squeeze in amid other plantings in your yard. Shade your gardens and patios, create groupings or rows for seasonal privacy and screening, or install a showy front yard specimen planting or street tree with the slim Pond Cypress!
It can survive in a variety of soils and grows tall and narrow for a beautiful presentation in your landscape all summer, and even through fall.
They'll handle urban conditions, sun, partial shade, and a variety of soil types without missing a beat. You'll love the speedy way it rockets up to achieve a lovely, refreshing shade for you and your family. In some locations, these Cypress will form curious 'knees'.
Perfect for low-lying areas, and Rain Gardens, the Bald Cypress tree provides decorative interest all year round! Can be used by rivers and lake properties that have wet soils. This is a perfect tree to shade a dock or boat house, including Zone 1 areas where periods of extended moisture can occur. The Pond Cypress' roots filter runoff water from roofs, slopes, or driveways beautifully!

It can handle a wide variety of soil types and does best in slightly acidic soil. Set up these long-lived trees for life by planting them with the symbiotic support of Nature Hills Root Booster and a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch around the roots. Give young trees moderate yet regular moisture to establish for the first several growing seasons. If needed, prune any crisscrossing branches in early spring.
