Coneflowers are native American perennials that have lit up the Mid-Western prairies for centuries in yellows, browns, and purples. Recently, breeders have been coaxing out amazing shades of red, orange, lavender, and coral!
Now there is a truly unique new color and form in this exquisite native flower. Playful Meadow Mama Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea 'Playful Meadow Mama') is a raspberry pink bloom with curled white tips like berries dipped in cream! The central cone is deep red which makes a surprising and lovely counterpoint to the striking and highly unusual petals.
The Meadow Mama series of Coneflowers are slightly taller than other Echinacea and are super floriferous! The fantastic branching and coarse green leaves form strong mounds and the blooms keep popping from summer until fall! Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 9, these smaller perennial Coneflowers are fast-growing and very adaptable!
With a sweet scent, you'll enjoy these beauties throughout your landscape all summer until autumn! If you leave the Coneflower seed heads on the plant at the end of the season, they will provide winter interest and food for native songbirds.
Planting and Application:
They are perfect for mixed borders or massed plantings, winding through Cottage Gardens, Rock Gardens, and even container gardens in the sun! Their flower power will amaze you! They are excellent for your sunny garden and they make perfect potted plants in your favorite container with your favorite annuals and perennials.
Plant plenty to cut and bring inside or share with your neighbors! Otherwise, plant groupings for your birds and the bees! Pollinator gardens, Cutting Gardens, and Coneflowers go hand in hand! Not only will you and your neighbors enjoy these beauties every year, but they attract pollinators like...well...bees to honey!
The smaller form means courtyard gardens, smaller planting beds, and even balcony gardens can enjoy these unusual Coneflower blooms! Use these late-season flowering ornamentals as edging along garden beds, or in high-profile areas to attract all the attention!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
These herbaceous perennials thrive in hot and sunny sites! Best in full sun, Echinacea are hardy, tolerant, and drought-tolerant once established. Plant with Nature Hills Root Booster and access to yearly fertility to keep the blooms popping! While not particular on soil type, Echinacea does great in most soil types as long as they are well-drained! Provide moderate, yet consistent moisture for new plants, then afterward, they only need supplemental moisture during prolonged heat and drought or risk seeing reduced flowering and vigor. All plants can be kept stress-free with a 3-4-inch layer of arborist mulch.
Divide perennial clumps about every 3 to 4 years. This Coneflower usually reblooms without deadheading, but if spent flowers are removed, this will encourage continued beautiful blooms and improve general appearance. If you leave some spent blooms on the plants in the fall their seeds provide winter food for birds. You can enjoy the dried seed heads as well because they will provide architectural interest in the winter.
