Explosive flower heads of shrimp-pink! The Pink Skyrocket Foam Flower (Tiarella x 'Pink Skyrocket') has fizzy spires of flowers held above the marvelously cut and marked foliage! These are especially shade-loving perennials that do well far into the steamy and hot southern states as well as far into the cold north! Like pink rockets firing off from the mound of foliage, these are incredible plants not many gardeners know about!
The dramatic and deeply incised foliage is green all growing season, with the center veins splashed in dark purple. The shrimp pink buds appear in late spring on upright pointed flower spikes and gradually open, bottom to top, fading to light pink and white as they do. By autumn, the foliage becomes burnished bronze in more sun, and a deep shiny black in the shade as the frost arrives.
Pink Skyrocket is cold and heat-hardy in USDA growing zones 4-9 and grows at a pretty good rate, reaching about a foot tall when in flower and spreading to just over a foot wide. The flowers appear from May to June and call butterflies to come to visit and sip nectar in the shade!
Planting and Application:
Pink Skyrocket is lovely in shade gardens! These shy beauties shrink in the sun, but are a show off under the limbs of large trees or along a foundation where they can bask in the shady relief of your home. Plant along the shaded side of a fenceline or row of shrubs where these fancy blooms can act as facer plants and specimen plants! A great understory plant, let them brighten gloomy areas beneath trees where few other plants can grow. Cottage and perennial gardens, cut flower and pollinator borders, all become something special with these unique plants are included!
Foam Flower looks fantastic mixed with Hostas, Bleeding Hearts, and Ferns and where they can show off their fall foliage alongside Coral Bells, so use their height and unusual color to play with other perennials and brighten the shade! Use as a dramatic backdrop or focal point in mixed perennial borders and turn a hum-drum shade garden into something spectacular at every point throughout the growing season!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Foam Flowers are perfect in both part shade and full shade, preferring full shade in the hottest and drier climates, where they also appreciate mulch to hold in moisture. Loving rich soils best and locations with even moisture all growing zone long, these are low-maintenance and easy-care herbaceous perennials. Deadhead to keep the mounds cleaned up once flowers fade, then prune the entire clumps back and remove leaves and debris in late autumn.
