Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:

Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements

Container Plant Sizes

Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

More Poppies Per Plant!

This gorgeous poppy variety will give you more poppies to love, with a late spring bloom that is repeated in early summer. Manhattan Oriental Poppy features 4 to 6-inch, crepe paper-thin blooms, the satiny petals alive with bright fuchsia shades, and kissed with a splash of black at the base of the petals. The center of the overlapping petals hosts an otherworldly seed pod, its velvety stamens awash with shades of deep purple and a sprinkling of cream.

It's a poppy that begs to be approached for a closer look, alight in brilliant color and ruffled texture. Even the foliage is a delight. The deeply-serrated, silver/green leaves providing accent to the delicate blossoms, held aloft on fuzzy stems that seem to drift on the slightest breeze.

Your Manhattan Oriental Poppy has an upright, spreading nature and is adaptable to a variety of soils. Pollinators love Manhattan, especially hummingbirds which will often be seen humming around its ruffled petals in search of a treat. It's quite hardy, able to adapt to a variety of soils and can even survive some drought conditions. Plant a few in your perennial bed, along a border or even a few in containers where their bright, airy presence can be shown to their full advantage.

Poppies are always beautiful. Even when the flowers have faded, the seed heads can be dried and used in a variety of crafts and flower arrangements.
