Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Summertime isn't summertime without the juicy goodness of nectarines, which is a great incentive for growing your own. Our Flavortop Nectarine (Prunus persica nucipersica 'Flavortop') Tree is an easy-to-grow variety that rewards its growers with mountains of fruit, season in and season out.

The Flavortop Nectarine Tree produces large, firm and delicious freestone fruit that the whole family can appreciate, but let's back up a season shall we.

In the spring, this beautiful self-pollinating tree beckons in spring each year with a cloak of soft pink spring blooms that release their sweet fragrance into the air, wafting to pollinators to come and bask in its allure.

Even without the fruit that follows, Flavortop is a real treat to display in the front or backyard. Come mid-summer, your bounty will be ready for the taking as your tree becomes heavy with red, smooth, shiny nectarines.

The fruit of the Flavortop Nectarine Tree is not just delicious, but also good for you. It's loaded with vitamin C, known to support immune health, and also a good source of potassium and carotenoids. The nectarine provides a tasty way to bone up on antioxidants that fight free-radical damage.

For the foodie or avid home chef, home grown nectarines are a versatile addition to the fruit bowl. Slice them and add to a fruit salad or compote, substitute them for peaches in an array of baked goods, or turn them into homemade jams and jellies.

Want to do all of those things? No worries, your nectarine tree will produce a harvest large enough to eat fresh, bake with, AND share with a few lucky friends!

If you find yourself with too many still, try canning and storing. There's almost nothing better than opening up a scrumptious can of nectarine preserves in the winter months!

You might also try freezing them. Add in a little orange juice, banana, honey and vanilla yogurt and you have yourself a summer smoothie that can't be beaten. We could talk about ways to use your harvest all day.

The Flavortop Nectarine is a showy edible tree that would be a great addition to any yard. Order yours today!

How to Use Flavortop Nectarine in the Landscape

This tree is self-pollinating and doesn't need a partner to produce fruit. This makes it a great option for those working with limited space.

That being said we'd be remiss if we didn't warn you you'll want an entire orchard of these trees! Plant one in your front yard as a spring accent and summer attraction.

If you have a large backyard, consider planting towards the back, where it can grow unhindered and get lots of sunlight without blocking other plants.

Complete your "fruit salad" orchard with a Flavortop, or if you're just getting into growing your own food, start it! This tree is one of the best fruit trees to start with if you haven't had much experience.

The plethora of pink blossoms in the spring will bring pollinators from near and far--so plant near your pollinator garden!

Looking to add a tree to your landscape that can be both practical and a fun family activity every summer, Flavortop is just the tree. The fruit is so healthy, you won't have to feel guilty one bit about letting the kids eat 3 or 4 right off the tree.

Using this tree in the landscape is one thing, but don't forget to start planning all the ways you'll use the fruit in the kitchen! We've still got that fruit smoothie on our mind.

#ProPlantTips for Care

Find your perfect planting spot by locating an area in full sun with well drained soil--good drainage is important for a healthy fruit tree. Another detail to note is whether or not the spot you've picked gets good air circulation.

Planting a fruit tree can be daunting, especially if it's your first go at growing your own. We have a simple six step process we like to use. Read more about planting fruit trees in our blog.

After situating your newly planted tree, take extra care to water thoroughly during its first growing season. This helps the tree's root system establish. In subsequent years, water regularly to maximize fruit production.

Not sure when it's time to water? Use the finger test by sticking a finger up to the second knuckle into the soil and checking for moisture. If it's dry, give your tree a drink. If it's wet, go ahead and skip for the day and check again in a day or two.

One way to conserve water in the summer is by adding a 3-4 inch layer of mulch around the base of the tree, starting one inch away from the trunk. This keeps moisture even and protects the roots from the summer heat and winter cold.

Flavortop Nectarine Tree produces large fruits with telltale fiery red skin that sets the landscape aglow at harvest time. The flesh of the Flavortop Nectarine is phenomenally juicy, sweet and full of flavor, a feat that helped to seal its reputation as one of the most beloved of all the nectarine varieties.

If you're looking for ways to increase the size of your crops each year, we suggest planting a pollinating partner nearby. While this tree is self-pollinating, you'll find it produces larger harvests with a buddy around.

Another way to keep the tree happily producing the largest, healthiest fruit possible is to thin out the fruits each spring. This can feel counterintuitive but it allows the tree to focus more of its energy on the fewer fruits.
