Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Get ready to fall in love with your newest obsession! The Southern Living® Plants Obsession™ Heavenly Bamboo PP#21891 (Nandina domestica 'Seika') is a showy broadleaf evergreen shrub with richer coloring than other Nandinas!
This cultivar's name "Seika" means "sacred fire", which perfectly fits the brilliant nature of this shrub's new growth! The densely foliaged, pointed leaves are so intensely red that their display will appear as a splash of "fire" in your landscape. Softening the fire is the panicles of white flowers that bees and butterflies love!
The bright red new leaves on the Obsession™ Nandina, also going by the name Sacred Bamboo, will mature to green, displaying a mix of greens and reds for much of the year. When autumn arrives, however, the foliage returns to its full dazzling, scarlet tones for the fall. Plus Obsession™ maintains that intensity into winter. Just imagine those red leaves against the white of your winter snowfall!
Obsession™ Nandina will grow up to 4 feet in height with an equal spread. It is a dwarf variety, with an upright, compact nature. Fast to moderately fast growing, you'll get results fast without worrying about pollution, drought, heat, and pests throughout USDA planting zones 6 to 10.
Planting and Application:
A single Obsession™ would look amazing as an accent near a side door, or plant a few in a little-used area to add some year-round carefree interest! The fiery color sets off your landscape throughout the entire growing season and beyond!
Considered a low-maintenance plant, so you can pretty much just plant it and forget it! Although that will. of course. be hard to do since Obsession™ Nandinas' bright colors are such as stand-out in any landscape! You can even use these dwarf shrubs in your container plantings on porches and patios!
Mass plantings become easy-care and low-maintenance displays, while smaller specimen plantings light up your landscape as focal points! Long rows become privacy and showy spectacles and vivid backdrops for your garden beds. Groupings and rows become brilliant year-round backdrops, showy privacy hedges, and tropical-looking screenings around your poolside seating.
Rock Gardens and Xeric plantings and ideal locations for these water-wise shrubs! But Obsession™ looks just as showy in the Cottage Garden, Zen Gardens, vivid foundation plantings, or varied fire-wise defensive plans! The colors and different textures will create a gorgeous view!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Nandina have the best color in full sun, but do better in hotter climates when given afternoon shade. While evergreen in warm growing zones too, Nandina in cooler growing zones may be more semi-evergreen or even deciduous. Plant in well-drained soil locations and provide regular water until they are established. Once settled, Nandina becomes drought-tolerant and very easy to grow!
Add 3-4 inches of arborist mulch over the root system to keep it cool and hold moisture in more consistently. Plus, Obsession™ Nandina doesn't mind some pruning, but you'll likely want to leave it be, as its natural beauty is exceptional.
Hardy and easy to grow, unfortunately, this easy growth means that in some areas of the country, birds spread the seeds and the Nandina pops up where it shouldn't. Nature Hills Nursery is at the forefront of environmental regulatory compliance with all agricultural laws. We use Plant Sentry™, an online tool that blocks shipments of plants that can behave invasively in your region. Enter your Zip Code in the Plant Highlights section to find your Hardiness Zone on this page and you'll see if Nature Hills can ship Nandina safely into your area.
