Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.
Standard Shipping Rates
At Nature Hills we handle, package and ship the products you order with the utmost care to ensure healthy delivery. Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on the tables below. Pieris Mountain Snow (Pieris japonica 'Planow') is a highly ornamental shrub with year-round interest. Your Mountain Snow Pieris seems to have it all, beautiful foliage and delicate flowers all wrapped up in a versatile, hardy shrub! You can plant one of these and just sit back and enjoy the show!
Mountain Snow's new foliage emerges with a vibrant bronze tint that gradually transitions to a rich, deep green as spring progresses into summer. Delicate flower buds appear in summer and hang on, adding some gentle elegance through the harsh, winter months. If you have any pollinators around, they're sure to find your garden now!
When spring arrives, the delightful buds unfurl in the growing warmth of the sun's rays. Your bees and butterflies will flock to its showy clusters of cascading blossoms when the white, bell-like blooms open in spring. Mountain Snow Pieris will grow up to 5 feet in height with a 4-foot width. Its natural growth is quite lovely but will accept pruning if you'd like to shape it a bit.
Planting and Application:
Use a Pieris as an elegant accent plant near your perennial bed, or group several together for a casual, naturalized effect in a lesser-used area of your yard. These broadleaf-evergreens provide year-round interest for your landscape! Use as a low privacy hedge throughout all growing seasons. A row along your home's foundation planting or between your home's front yard and the sidewalk or as a steady backdrop in a border garden.
These are not just evergreen plants, rather are also gorgeous fragrant flowering shrubs that won't overtake your entire garden! Use as low screening around your patios and seating areas, or as fringe around a structure, arbor, gazebo or a garden sculpture for year-round accenting! Pieris has a love of moist soil, so don't be afraid to plant near or around a water feature or where the gutters drain.
- Fragrant Bell-Shaped Flowers
- Red New Spring Growth
- Glossy Green Leaves
- Great for Containers, Low Hedges, Moist Sites
- Fast to Moderate Growth & Year-Round Interest
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Mountain Snow Pieris is more heat-tolerant than other varieties, so this is a step-up from others you might see at your local nursery. It's drought-resistant and also renowned for its shade tolerance, so you can even use it in areas where other plants might fail to thrive. It's a low-maintenance shrub, and can even be fast-growing under the right conditions. Prune after flowering if needed.
- Full Shade & Partial Shade
- Adaptable to a Variety of Well-Drained Soils
- Loves Moist to Semi-Moist Conditions
- Fast to Medium Growth Rate
- Heat & Drought Tolerant
Of the many varieties of Pieris, Mountain Snow is certainly an exceptional choice! You can't go wrong with its colorful foliage, delightful blossoms and year-round interest!
