This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Growing Zones 5-10
The perfect Japanese garden isn't complete without a Millstone Japanese Pagodatree (Sophora japonica 'Halka') intermingled with other Maples! Elegant upsweeping branches hold an abundance of bright green foliage during the warm months. They provide the perfect backdrop for the flower power right around the corner.
In the late spring to early summer, you'll find your tree alight with big bright 6-12 inch long creamy white panicles of creamy white bell-shaped flowers at the end of its branches. Beneficial pollinators and bees will folic among these unusual blooms! As if that weren't delightful enough, they carry a light sweet scent that seems to float through the air for days and days. Snag a few from the lower branches and bring them inside to accent your indoor bouquets!
This remarkable deciduous tree has a rounded canopy with strong branches ready and willing to take on the burden of these glorious leaves and pannicles. Not to mention the copious amounts of local pollinators who will definitely be by to see what all the fuss is about. Before the leaves give way for the coldest parts of the year, they'll shift from green to a brilliant yellow in the fall.
Planting and Application:
Previously known as Sophora japonica and may still be listed by that name at other growers. This tree is a gorgeous ornamental accent to a yard whether already filled with trees or as a single planting specimen as a garden anchor for all to see. Shade seating areas and patios with these smaller ornamental deciduous trees! You'll want to park a garden bench beneath the branching for a reading nook

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 through 10, Millstone is a fairly fast-growing tree that should be planted in full sun and, ideally, in well-drained soil. However, it's adaptable to both dry and moist conditions once established. Add a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch to hold in moisture and insulate the root systems of these refined trees. Prune in late winter or early spring to correct branching.
- Full Sun to Part Shade
- Moderate Moisture & Fertility
- Enriched Well-Drained Soil
- Prune Late Winter or Early Spring
- Great Fall Color!
