Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

If there is perfect Pawpaw, it might be the Mango Pawpaw (Asimina triloba 'Mango'). If you love fruit with mouth-watering flavor then this Pawpaw cannot be beaten!

Your Mango Pawpaw flowers in the spring and you will get lovely dark bell-shaped blossoms in a ravishing reddish-violet. Originating in Tifton, Georgia. When yours starts bearing fruit, you will be glad it was discovered and wonder why this isn't Georgia's state fruit.

The Mango Pawpaw fruit has thicker, greenish-yellow skin that encloses delicious, gold yellow flesh with the flavor of - you guessed it - Mangos! This fruit is medium-sized and plentiful enough that you can experiment with different ways to prepare it. Try Pawpaw cookies, cakes, and jams, or turn this tropical-flavored fruit into a refreshing smoothie.

Mango is one of the largest natives of its variety, the Pawpaw is a close relative of the Cherimoya and Custard-apple and has been enjoyed as a North American native fruit for centuries.

The flavor isn’t the only thing that is tropical with these fantastic trees, the long foliage also lends an exotic flair to your landscape as well as great yellow fall color!

How to Use Mango Pawpaw Tree In The Landscape

With the Mango Pawpaw, you only have to wait two or three years to start reaping your harvest. And Nature Hills Nursery ships you plants that are already at least 2-3 years old!

While you wait for the fruit, you can enjoy the dark green foliage of spring and summer, and the golden-colored leaves of fall.

You can also use this dense tree as privacy and screening! Plant as a single specimen for pin-point shade or in groups to shield your seating areas from prying eyes. Or for a wonderful windbreak, shelterbelt and property-defining hedgerow along the edges of your yard!

Wildlife love Pawpaws as well, so plant a few extra, or several varieties in a row or orchard to increase your pollination!

You will need a partner if you hope to enjoy a Pawpaw harvest. Plant two varieties or a combination of varieties for cross-pollination. Check out our full line of other varieties of Pawpaw for those best suited to your area.

If you don't have room for two trees, Mango is beautiful enough to use for its ornamental qualities. The long green foliage is exotic-looking and provides shade over your patios and garden beds!

#ProPlantTips For Care

The Mango Pawpaw is a hardy native American variety that isn't bothered by cold weather like its tropical relatives. Cold hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 through 9, it’s also rather heat and humidity tolerant as well!

Growing in most types of soil, Pawpaw prefers well-drained soil, favoring loam that is slightly acidic. Provide ample organic matter and fertility.

Fruit trees usually do best in full sun for best yields, however, Mango Pawpaw also does well in partial shade, preferring afternoon shade in the hottest of its recommended growing zones.

Preferring moist soil, these are drought-tolerant but do their best when given consistent moisture access. A generous layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture as well as insulate the root system from heat and chill.

Thin the fruit in summer, and prune this tree when dormant to remove crossing branches, control the size and remove diseased limbs. You’ll want to harvest your fruit as soon as it ripens to prevent damage to your limbs from the weight.

Don't worry about the bugs because Pawpaws produce natural pesticides that keep them under control. These hardy natives are also very disease-resistant!

If you can't afford a vacation to the Bahamas, you can afford a taste of the tropics with a Mango Pawpaw. Enjoy the beauty along with delicious fruit, and you will be gifted with your own staycation with this tropical-tasting fruit.

For a truly dual-purpose landscaping tree that offers your temperate garden a tropical flair, give the Mango Pawpaw Tree a try! Order at NatureHills.com today!
