Introducing a shrub that will most definitely sing a magical tune in your late season garden! The Magical Melody Coralberry (Symphoricarpos doorenbosii 'Kolmagimel') is a beautiful seasonal shrub with lovely arching branches that look striking in the landscape throughout the spring, summer, and the fall!
Magical Melody is covered from spring through fall in lovely green leaves that drape off of the arching stems. In the summer the flowers start blooming in June and will be humming in bees and other pollinators!
But the real show begins in late August and persist well into winter! That is when the berries come out in profusion and lasts until October. The blueberry-sized fruits start out a creamy white but soon get coral-pink freckles. These bright berries are the perfect fresh cuts for fall weddings, floral arrangements, and décor! As the weather cools, the berries begin to blush deeper shades of coral-pink.
The berries of this Snowberry bush variety aren't edible, but boy, are they gorgeous! They add extra depth and color to the fall garden. Hardy throughout USDA growing zones of 4 to 8, these great ornamental bushes grow 3 feet in height and spread to about 3-5 feet wide.
Planting and Application:
Add a Magical Melody in a mixed border, screening, or own their own as a specimen. Make sure that you order several. They are stunners in the back of the border and make a grand statement in mass plantings. They are perfect for wild woodland gardens (or those gardens that aspire to be!) and excel at woods edge, where they are a great transition from manicured lawn to woodland.
When left on the shrub, these showy berries are food for wildlife and songbirds! The dense branching of these deciduous shrubs provides shelter and nesting sites for a wide variety of wildlife too! Not to mention the fantastic fall and winter interest this shrub adds to your landscape!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Coralberry and Snowberry love full sun and partial shade, and these shrubs need well-drained soil. Preferring 3-4 inch thick layer of arborist bark chips top-dressed over the root system and given average to moist soil, but Snowberry bushes are quite adaptable. Blooming on new wood, it's recommended you prune in the very early spring before new growth emerges, or renewal prune every 3-5 years. By cutting out a third of the oldest, fattest, and least productive branches from the base of the plant, you keep your shrub blooming vigorously.
