The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

This epic Bearded Iris will leave you murmuring "my precious" and searching your garden for room to plant more! The Lord of Rings Tall Bearded Iris (Iris germanica 'Lord of Rings') is as magical and fantastic as its name implies! All it takes is one bloom for an epic saga of love and excitement to begin!

The Lord of Rings Tall Bearded Irises' coloration is both earthy and otherworldly simultaneously. We know this sounds like a paradox, but with its unique mixture of browns, burgundies, and golds, you'll feel like you're transported to Middle Earth. The gold 'beards' of this Bearded Iris will make a wizard jealous!

What makes the Lord of Rings Iris a favorite among Iris collectors is the way its colors blend. Each bloom is both unique and stunning. This Iris features tan to yellow standards, streaked with burgundy and glowing honey-yellow falls with brown to burgundy margins.

The Lord of Rings Iris's story doesn't end there. Many come back to life by reblooming as summer transforms to fall, especially in the longer growing season of warmer USDA planting zones 3 to 9. You won't be the only one to become immersed in the saga of this brilliant Tall Bearded Iris.

Planting and Application:

This fragrant and fanciful Iris is sure to impress in a wide array of roles in the garden! Add excitement by using it as a border with other Irises, the vertical foliage adding upright texture as a backdrop or as edging. Or enjoy a journey every time you step outside by planting them in your garden beside your porch, patio, or deck!

Butterflies and bees will form a fellowship with your Hummingbirds as they journey to visit this precious pretty! Plant some extra plants for your bouquets indoors without depriving your pollinators of a moment to explore the ruffled petals! Besides being a precious part of your pollinator and cutting gardens, Lord of Rings Iris shines in a Cottage garden fit for a Hobbit, or elegant mixed perennial border!

So showy, the golden hue glows in the container gardeners' balcony or on a front porch mixed planter where this golden beauty will whisper to you and beckon you in for a closer look and whiff! Sunny landscapes benefit from their radiance when planted in drifts and large banks on hillsides, embankments, and in Rock gardens where the Bearded Iris excels due to its drought resistance, deer and rabbit resistance, and easy-to-grow nature!

  • Rich Gold Ruffled Petals Edged in Burgundy
  • Fragrant Reblooming Iris
  • Perfect Cut Flowers & Pollinator-Friendly
  • Sword-Like Foliage Clumps
  • Radiant Container Accents
  • Bold Specimens Borders, Edging, Backdrops & Mass Plantings

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Just provide this German Iris variety with partial/afternoon shade or full sunshine and well-drained soil. Plant the rhizomes in the fall in well-drained soil with moderate moisture access. Add a layer of arborist mulch for moisture retention, insulation, and winter protection. Then, once spring arrives, let the journey begin!

Divide every few years and it's recommended you deadhead after the flowers fade. Trim all the foliage back in the autumn once it yellows and cover the rhizomes loosely with compost, mulch, or evergreen boughs for the winter. Deer, Rabbits, and Squirrels seldom eat these perennials or their rhizomes.

Information About Bare Root Iris

Bare root Iris are shipped as nice fresh-cut divisions with two to three fans of green tops. Keep in mind each Iris variety can have slightly different-sized roots.

Be sure to set your Iris up for success by planting it in the fall in a shallow hole with a hill of soil at its center. Place the rhizome on the moundand bury it with enough soil to leave the top of the rhizome exposed. Note, that it's best to cover the rhizome with a thin layer of mulch or leaves to protect it during the coldest months but make sure to uncover it in the spring.

  • Full Sun & Some Shade
  • Easy Care In Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate to Low Moisture Needs
