Sweet and petite, the Tinkerbelle® Lilac (Syringa 'Bailbelle' PP12294) is a gorgeous spring-blooming deciduous shrub with gorgeous, fragrant flowers. Your Tinkerbelle Lilac is in the Fairytale series and certainly lives up to that image with its magical beauty, and abundance of flowers, scent and form. Deep red to dark pink buds appear in spring, opening to 5-inch long panicles of gloriously pink flowers in mid to late spring.
The traditional Lilac fragrance is enchanting but has added spicy notes! The blooms are sure to draw you in for a closer look as well as provide a strong lure for your pollinators. The 3-inch long oval leaves are a vibrant dark green and fill out your Tinkerbelle for a lush full look! Adding lovely greenery to your landscape throughout the summer months and into fall.
Tinkerbelle Lilac has an upright nature with a rounded habit. Tinkerbelle is urban tolerant, disease-resistant that even deer tend to pass it by. It requires very little effort but provides an enormous return in the sumptuous beauty it will bring to your home.
Planting and Application:
Plant a few TinkerbelleLilac as an informal hedge or en masse as a spectacular spring display that won't be missed! Rows for privacy, groupings for wildlife and as fragrant banks of screening around your seating and entertaining areas! For a dense hedge, plant 2 to 3 feet apart on center. You'll measure from the center of one plant to the center of the next. If you want an easy-breezy hedge that billows in the breezes, you can increase that space to 3 to 4 feet apart.
Even just one will add a splash of color next to your outbuilding or at a side entrance. Anchor a foundation planting, create lovely accents and back-of-the-border color along cottage and perennial beds! Any garden becomes a pollinator and cut flower garden with a scented Lilac in its midst!
The lovely two-tone hue of the blooms paired with the steady green of the foliage makes lovely spring, summer, and fall accents! The blooms of this petite shrub look perfect mixed with other Lilac varieties and bring butterflies and hummingbirds who love easy access to the delicious nectar.
Use as a fantastic single focal point, or in groupings of three or odd numbers, for the most natural look. Underplant with smaller evergreens and other flowering plants. Don't forget the spring bulbs to really maximize the spring display!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
To keep Tinkerbelle at its happiest and healthiest, make sure to plant in full sun in some well-drained soil and a layer of mulch and you'll owner to the happiest Lilac on the block. If there is too much shade, your Lilac will limp along and produce leaves, but it will likely never produce blooms.
Air circulation is always a good idea for Lilacs. If you see long-lasting puddles in the area you want to plant, bring in additional native soil and create a mound 18 - 24 inches. Plant directly in that mound. This is especially true if you have clay soils. Lilacs do not tolerate standing water or wet feet but do appreciate their root system covered with 3-4 inches of Arborist bark chips.
Prune directly following the bloom to correct crossing branches or remove any broken limbs. Lilacs bloom on last year's wood. If you prune too early or too late, you'll lose the flowers for next spring. Prune it right after it finishes flowering ensuring you will enjoy an abundance of flowers the next year.
Tinkerbelle Lilac is deer-resistant but, if deer populations are high and the food is limited deer may sample any plant. If you live with deer in your area, apply repellent spray on planting day. Deer are hungry and curious, and you want to train them to leave your plants alone. Reapply according to the label.
