Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Growing Zones 4-8
Hummelo Betony (Stachys monieri 'Hummelo') enhances summer with incredible spikes of rosy-lavender flowers for an impressive display! Also known as Lambs Ear, it's a member of the Mint family. The fact that Hummelo means bumblebee in German, goes to show you these are beloved by the butterflies, bees and hummingbirds!
Hummelo has intriguingly glossy, dark-green foliage which remains attractive all season! Each leaf is wrinkled or puckered with tightly scalloped edges. Pollinators flock to this clump-forming flowering perennial that freely naturalizes and forms lovely groundcover. Tubular blooms appear in spikes that rise above the foliage from midsummer through frost, and are great additions to floral arrangements.
The mounding foliage forms vigorous basal clumps of rounded green displays. It is absolutely lovely even when it's not in bloom! Creeping by stolon's underground, it forms dense mats to choke out weeds.
Planting and Application:
It makes a unique and stunning addition to any sunny border! Line a bed or walkway with the deep-green foliage and tall blooms for a great welcoming committee for your guests. Define borders with bold color and fill dappled shade meadows and edge-of-the-woods locations with beauty. Cottage gardens and rustic plantings, and formal and specimen plantings alike benefit from this tough plant. Great for containers, these will fit in any smaller urban garden or balcony planter.
This plant adds texture and color to Pollinator and Rock Gardens. These look lovely planted among Daisies, Coreopsis and Ornamental Grasses! The clumps spread to form a dense ground cover and create amazing en masse drifts of purple flowers. This easy-to-grow Betony won the 2019 Perennial Plant of the Year!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Perennial Hummelo needs to be planted in full sun in a well-drained area in USDA 4-8 zones. These are drought tolerant once established. Not particular on the type of soil, just be sure to keep well watered until established. Pruning is only needed to deadhead for a second bloom and to keep the plant tidy.
