These are great for interspersing among larger perennials and shrubs as groundcover too! Pollinator gardens are natural sites for these beneficial nectar resources!
That ‘hell-strip’ along the road where the conditions can be tough on other plants, suit Dianthus just fine. Adorn your driveway or paths with rows of these lovelies for easy care property definition!
#ProPlantTips For Care
Preferring full sun, Dianthus can be evergreen in the warmer USDA hardiness zones 4 through 9. Provide at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day, favoring the drying power of the morning sun. Very cold tolerant, they survive the winter’s chill amazingly well!
Grow these plants in all types of very well-drained soil with moderate moisture, they thrive in sandy or rocky, gravel sites. You can be assured they’ll perform in your fertile garden beds even better! Provide moderate, yet consistent moisture while young plants are getting established.
After, these are drought tolerant and tough perennials, but it is best to protect your investment by providing supplemental watering during extreme summer heat and times of drought.
Plant in neutral to slightly alkaline soil with moderate fertility. Mulch to keep the moisture consistent and to better insulate the roots from heat and cold.
Deer resistant and easy care, these perennial plants have been a landscaping standard for decades and continue to brighten gardens around the world. They are versatile perennials and the only care they require is occasional deadheading to keep those brilliant blooms returning until summer!
Once the large flush of lilac blooms has faded, cut or deadhead back to encourage a second, smaller burst of flowering.
Lovely garden standards smothered in gorgeous pink blooms, you’ll adore this fragrant beauty as much as we do! Order the lovely Kahori® Dianthus now for your next landscaping project at NatureHills.com!
