Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Gorgeous symmetrical greenery, A fantastic addition to the landscape! Growing perfectly symmetrical in leaf and form it's difficult to imagine why the incredible Japanese Tassel Fern (Polystichum polyblepharum) isn't a part of every landscape! The dark-green fronds are highly ornate, with pointed leaves and leaflets. Their leathery fronds and perfectly divided toothy edges create an elegant appearance!

The glossy, leathery foliage forms perfect vase-shaped clumps that cascade one leaf over the next in symmetrical perfection! The arching fronds are highlighted by a chocolate brown stem as each new fiddlehead unfurls from the center of the plant.

These award-winning easy-to-grow Ferns are pest and problem-free! Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 5 to 8, these lovely perennial to evergreen Ferns grow about 2 feet in height and width, these are ideal for small spaces.

Planting and Application:

Use Japanese Tassel Fern as a glorious specimen and focal point plant by placing it in a prominent, shade garden location. Plant in your favorite urn in a position of distinction to further highlight its beauty! Container and balcony gardeners will benefit greatly from this fantastic plant, regardless of how much room you have to work with!

Perfect specimen plants and incredible low-growing facer plants, we're sure you'll find they enhance any part of your garden that you tuck them into! Not minding sharing the spotlight, plant this modestly sized plant among mixed borders or Perennial beds that are basked in dappled shade. Or create a mixed Fern specimen planting by incorporating this lovely accent among its other vase-shaped Fern cousins!

For a formal, structured touch to Asian-inspired and Zen gardens, woodland gardens, both Rain and Rock Gardens, or as shaded edging along your favorite paths and driveway, the evergreen nature of this plant will add year-round interest if you live in a climate with mild winters.

Small enough for container gardening and as lacy fringe around a feature plant as a colorful skirt, filler, and spillers! Plant a few of these stellar Ferns in your potted accents on porches, patios, and balconies.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Hardy in USDA growing zones of 5 through 8, this perennial Fern can be evergreen in areas with mild winters. Growing 18-24 inches tall and wide, Tassel Ferns enjoys partial to full shade, with a preference for afternoon shade from the hot sun and full shade in hot climates. They will appreciate the drying power of the morning sun.

Choose a highly organically rich, moist, and fertile location in well-drained soil. Best in consistently moist soil, while establishing, and afterward water weekly to ensure lush, full growth. A generous layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture as well as insulate the root system from heat and chill.

Prune this Fern, or clean up dead debris or old fronds in early spring before the new fiddleheads unfurl. Otherwise, these are easily grown, low-maintenance plants that are deer, rabbit, pest, and disease-free! Divide every 3-5 years to keep the clumps growing vigorously.

  • Part Shade & Full Shade
  • Slightly Acidic Well-Drained Soil
  • Consistently Moist Soil
  • Evergreen in Mild Winters
  • Easy Care & Low Maintenance - Deer, Rabbit & Pest Free
