The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Gorgeous dark green wavy delights, the Japanese Curled Leaf Privet (Ligustrum japonicum 'Recurvifolium') is a large, upright privacy shrub with lustrous dark-green leaves! Versatile and adaptable, these larger shrubs can be small trees, small or large hedges, and formal or informally sheared and trimmed as much as you'd like!
The colorful new growth is accented by sprays of white blossoms that the pollinators delight in! Soon, the glossy broadleaf evergreen foliage matures and small berries form among the leaves that songbirds snap up greedily! However, sheered forms may not have this bounty, but they will still provide ample bird-friendly shelter and nesting!
Also known as the Recurve Privet, these Ligustrum are hardy throughout USDA planting zones 7 to 11, these are sun, heat, and humidity-resistant plants that can be limbed up into a small tree form, large or small shrub, and beautiful hedge! Growing upwards of 8 feet tall and 6 feet wide!
Planting and Application:
The Wavy Leaf Ligustrum is a dramatic and showy specimen both as an informal shrub or limbed-up tree form! A tree form on your home's corners or adorning your front yard raised berm will become a gorgeous spectacle!
Bring in the curb appeal by creating a low, sheared Curled Leaf Ligustrum hedge just below your home's windows as a gorgeous foundation hedge! Continue the theme with a low hedge dividing your front yard from the street, and a property-dividing living fence to separate your property from the neighbors!
Create luscious privacy and screening hedges that are green year-round, enveloping you in luxury! You'll create easy upscale private dining and seating areas, sunbathe in peace around the pool, and meditate in your own private nook that blocks wind, noise, and prying eyes! Everyone will love the dark glossy green outdoor garden room walls that grow fast and dense!
The highly attractive and curvy foliage makes the Curled Leaf Privet a spectacular addition to your landscape in the sun or partial shade, while providing shelter and nesting for wildlife! Create gorgeous backdrops to Asian-inspired and Zen gardens, reflect a focal point in a pool, in a Moon garden where it will glow, or in more Xeric and low-water-usage gardens!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant Privet where they will receive at least four to six hours of sun a day. Good air circulation will benefit your shrubs, so pull them out away from the sides of buildings. These deciduous shrubs perform best in well-drained soil.
You'll want to use Nature Hills Root Booster while planting for significant benefits that last the entire life of your hedge. Although established Privets become moderately drought tolerant...you'll want to protect your investment with supplemental water. Apply a moderate amount of water on a regular basis to keep your shrubs stress-free.
Provide a 3-4 inch deep top-dressing of arborist mulch to hold moisture, insulate the roots, reduce weed competition, and add a finishing touch to your garden design! Prune to shape in early spring. It's ok to wait until after the fine-textured, fragrant flowers are finished. The more you prune the denser and bushier this shrub gets. Keep hedges trimmed in a tall triangular-shape, where the bottom is wider than the top so sunlight reaches to the bottom limbs.
- Full Sun to Part Shade
- Almost Any Well-Drained Soils
- Moderate to Low Moisture - Drought Once Established
- Prune/Shear After Flowering
- Deer, Disease, Heat, Humidity & Insect-Resistant
